Somewhere, a long time ago, I saw some handwritten pictures of engine baffling for a corvair motor in a VW bus. Throwing this out there to see if anyone has seen this before and might know where it is on the internet. Thanks, Matt

If I understand this thread correctly- OP is looking for an auxiliary heater. I’m putting a corvair motor in my VW bus. Here’s my plan You just have to be willing to have it be diesel, not gas.

The shroud at the front of the engine- the one that rests on top of the bellhousing.... is there a difference between a manual and a PG shroud? Bolt holes are not lining up well, and the shroud seems fairly straight. Thx, Matt Kansas City, Mo

You may not be interested but here’s what I plan to do. I like the idea of how simple this is. You just have to be willing to use a different fuel source...diesel. These are getting very popular in the VW community.

Does the orientation of the inertial switch matter, ie mounting it horizontally vs vertically?

Ok thanks. I do have a vacuum balance tube, I only see that it has a single port in the middle that goes up under the air cleaner connecting via rubber hose to the crankcase vent tube. Are there different crossover tubes for manual vs auto trans? I could tap a hole I guess...

Just wanted to check in and let the forum know that my engine runs well. I finished it months ago but never had a good enough fuel setup to run it for more than a few minutes. Today I ran it for a good 30-40 minutes with no issues. From idle up to around 3000 rpm and back down... did that for a good bit first, then a lot of idle time. Cylinder heads never got above 200 ish but I question th

That’s a really nice setup Dale. What is the fitting to transition from the fuel pump line to the original metal fuel lines? Looks like a T but I’m not sure. I like those fuel lines Frank! My plan is to have an electric fuel pump line from somewhere in front of the motor , thru the front shroud and into the mech fuel pump. Having trouble finding metal fuel lines with 1/4 npt fittings at my

The motor is going into a VW Bus. The filter will be in the left wheel well right next to the motor. You prob know this; The hose has to route back towards the front of the motor around the cooling fan and the head to rear left wheel well . Maybe 3 feet of hose?

Is 3/8 ID hose sufficient for remote oil filter? I have a 3/8 oil filter adapter for VWs, and plan on using 3/8" Hose ID to 1/2" NPT 90 Deg Elbow Brass Fitting for the setup on the Corvair motor end

I figured it out: It’s prob obvious but.... Because these carbs are symmetrical, interchangeable, each throttle shaft has two attachment holes opposite each other. I was using the “same” attachment holes for both carbs, this would require an impossibly long linkage to keep both throttle valves in the same position.

Still struggling with this. Have received Steve’s linkages. I’m really missing something here.. I think I fundamentally misunderstand dual carb setups. When I follow the procedure on page 6-5 of the shop manual(strip of paper between tang and cam, etc).. I get the carbs operating in opposition to each other. IE: with the return spring attached, drivers side is WOT and passenger side is rest

Not sure I am understanding the setup: electric pump to mechanical fuel pump with no modifications? Mech fuel pump pin still installed?

Thanks Al(and Frank too) So what I have is 2 left side linkages and no correct right side linkages. Both my linkages are the same length. Found this on eBay- should solve my problem

I apologize for not being able to upload pictures. If anyone can recommend a photo compression app for iPhones, please PM me. I procured a 2 carb cross-shaft, thx Chris and thx Eric for the offer. With 2 carb cross shaft installed, throttle return spring attached, right carb (passenger side) throttle valve is closed or nearly so (idle?). Left side- is the linkage between the throttle lev

I have a 2 carb 110. My throttle shaft is a 4 carb. With the throttle “closed”, it appears that the drivers side throttle valve (butterfly valve at base of carb) is wide open. I have to choke out the carb by placing a cover over it, or it goes full blast. Is this because of the 4 carb throttle shaft, or is my carb somehow mis-rigged? I rebuilt it per Bob Helts book. Is a four carb shaft
