Take care and get better soon my friend.
Corventure Dave Forum: Corvair Center Forum 7 months ago corventure Dave Just be careful with nut-serts in the top lip of the door. The clearance is close and I found most nut-serts will hit the door frame when the door is closed. I found some specialty shallow ones many years ago that worked ok. Unfortunately I cannot remember where I got them, it's been so long!
Corventure Dave Forum: Corvair Center Forum 7 months ago corventure Dave In 1964 we bought new lifters from the local Chevrolet dealer because My Dad thought we needed to replace them in Mom's Corvair. The part numbers on the box's indicated Corvair. However they looked like small block lifters. Took them back and ordered another set. Same looking as small block.
Then about 1967 I tried to order a set of OEM lifters from the local Chevrolet dealer parts cou Forum: Corvair Center Forum 7 months ago corventure Dave When visiting friends who have this....... I have fun asking Alexa to fart!
Corventure Dave Forum: Corvair Center Forum 7 months ago corventure Dave Ay... I finally got a new computer, er, at least a Chrome Book! Been off line for a couple weeks!
Back to the subject on hand. Mat is right about Lompoc. I grew up and still have family there. Usually at least a breeze going on. Just down the road off Hwy 1 is Jalama Beach. That is where wind surfing was invented.
The site for these wind turbines near Lompoc is way up Megalito Canyon. The roa Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 months ago corventure Dave Thanks Troy,
I've said it before. I hope whoever invented these canopies... is a millionaire!
Corventure Dave Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 months ago corventure Dave Years ago I saw a power antenna mounted under the rear air "inlet grill of a Late model. He mounted it so it so it came up through the grill perfectly. When down, it was unseen. Of course he did this before a body and paint job. But I thought it was a clean and interesting idea.
Corventure Dave Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 months ago corventure Dave Without getting into all the techno yadda yadda..
I have in the past opted to stack the cyl base gaskets, as opposed to staking head gaskets. This eliminates any possibility of head gasket blowout or leaks.
Corventure Dave Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 months ago corventure Dave At that price.... ummm.... I think I'll stick with my Camper.
Just came back last week from several days at Cachuma Lake.

Thanks for the nice photo of my "Green"Brier at the event!
Yes it was a real great time. I was worried about this being a comeback event after last years cancelation..... but great Corvair people made it fantastic. Even met some who are relatively new to the hobby. Vagabond Inn, banquet venue, the field preparation.... all went super well.
Thanks to all who worked to or Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 months ago corventure Dave Yep!
Phil, your absolutely right. People don't look down vary often. And the Rampside get's
recognized more as unusual with the Ramp on the down position.
Besides, we don't need any tripping at a fun car event.
Corventure Dave Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 months ago corventure Dave Had a little fun at the local Cars & Coffee this morning.
This guy has been hanging around for a while. Well....
This morning we finally had a chance to park side by side!
Now we just have to find a Dodge to complete the set!

Another local has been poking around with his FC Pickup truck.
We finally got to park side by side today. Now we have to find a Dodge!
Corventure dave Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 months ago corventure Dave The light socket assembly can be removed. It's bolted in place. There are actually two license lamps.
Then soak with a penetration oil as Matt mentioned. Finally try wiggling the bulb until it starts to move.
Corventure Dave Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 months ago corventure Dave Time to start posting your want's and making shopping lists.
Many of us participating can indeed bring items wanted to the Toss.
I have already started getting ready to pack "Valveeta"..... my 64 Greenbrier.
Looking back, this will be the 38th time Valveeta will make the trek to the park.
Yaa Hoo!

Rest in peace Greg.
Corventure Dave Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 months ago corventure Dave I have that option in my 62 Rampside. It's a nice attention getter.
The one thing I see missing from your unit that's for sale, is the service decal on the oil canister lid.
As for my unit. I used it when we had horses and did a lot of dirt road driving. The oil will wick up and creep around the outside edges of the filter.
For the Rampside installation, I have no oil in it.
Inst Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 months ago corventure Dave I've ran a 3.89 in my Powerglide Greenbrier for nearly 40 years. The engine is a 110 or 95, depending on how I set it up. The performance is fine, as long as you realize you are driving a brick! Happy highway speed is 62. It will do more, but faster that that makes cross winds an adventure!!
I recently installed a 3.55 in the Brier. I've only so far put a few hundred miles on it. The l Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 months ago corventure Dave Timothy,
We came up from Cortez. Went to Teluride to avoid the landslide on 550 or the Million Dollar Highway. Heading West Sat on our way home to So. Calif.
Beautiful country here and coming back fer sure.
Thanks,
Corventure Dave Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 months ago corventure Dave Have known Greg for years around So. Calif.
Definitely send in my best wishes to him for a full recovery and thankful he survived the accident.
Corventure Dave Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 months ago corventure Dave On my way to a motorcycle gathering in Montros Colorado. I spotted a Blue late model Convertible South bound in the HWY 550, aka the million dollar highway.
Anyone from this site?
Corventure Dave Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 months ago corventure Dave Best advice I have, is to locate a Hot Rod Shop. Many deal with vintage car's and have connections to people who know how to install gasketed windshields in pre 1970's vintage vehicles.

Well...... I'll say it was an adventure making this video. I hadn't installed one in quite a few years. But we got it done with all the help and several pizza's!
Corventure Dave Forum: Corvair Center Forum 10 months ago corventure Dave As for the Lift. I have the EZ Car Lift. No messing with hydraulic hoses add no access to the vehicle from the sides like the Quick Jack.
Also. Even tho these home jacks are just a bit pricy, They are easy to sell someday down the road, to get most if not all your investment back. And speaking of back's... yours will thank you!
Corventure Dave Forum: Corvair Center Forum 10 months ago corventure Dave Check out... Ssnake Oyl products. They do restorations of vintage seatbelts and can even match color. I have had several excellent sets made up from them.
Corventure Dave Forum: Corvair Center Forum 10 months ago corventure Dave Back in the early 1980's Pep Boys had AC Corvair oil filters for $4ea with a limit per purchase of 4.
I was commuting at that time and each day I stopped at two different stores to stock up. And how I did!!!!

Corventure Dave Forum: Corvair Center Forum 10 months ago corventure Dave Those resolved the venturi drip issues in many of my and other HV carburetors.
I use them exclusively.
As stated there are several in depth postings here on the subject. Including "proper" installation.
