Don't skimp on quality for price. Most all the point sets I have seen lately are pretty bad. The rubbing post that rides on the distributor cam is plastic, It wears faster than the contacts of the points making point gap or dwell hard to maintain. Gas cap must be vented, locking style or not. Story... My father, when he was still working in the late 1960's or so, had to make supply pickup's at the L.A. Airport. After vacation and returning to work, he made the 120 mile trip with the company van.. a Dodge. The tank was left full as was company procedure. If all drain holes are clear and even if not........I agree on the kick-panel vent housings. They can be a bugger to reseal to the inner fender. I always put 4 "extra" screws on mine, making a total of 8. The 4 origional mounting screws behind the vent grills never seem to hold the panel in place secure enough to make the duct seal goop keep the water out. Corventure Dave

One more thing to check... look at the crank balancer. In line with the timing mark is a pair of scribe marks on both sides of the dampening rubber center ring. I have seen where the outer pully has turned on the rubber. This will throw the timing mark off by any slippage of the outer ring. One 1965 with facory AC seemed to have a fairly kind-of tight pulley, but the timing marks were 50 degrees

I do not believe there would be enough pump action to refill the T-converter by just spinning the starter. Long time cranking and heating up the starter would also not be a good practice.

I believe my "Line 9" Rochester Products" catalog calls for 1 13/64, but you should be OK with 1 1/8. A tip from when I lived in Rochester N.Y. in the 1970's. A family friend, Frank Mason, Rochester Products Engineer who worked on the Rochester H and HV projects in the day.... be sure the float spring is agjusted properly. That has been done. Corvairs like to go out for a run from time to time anywho. What I recommend is having a good or repaired cable ready to go.... so the swap out job can be done when time permits. The port to the choke pull-off is constant vacuum, so you are correct... the gauge goes there. I use one gauge with a T fitting for hoses to each carb. Pinch one side off to get individual carb readings. It is also a good idea to detach the vacuum balance tube running from one carb base to the other. Simple port caps work here. I have ran many PG shifters for 30+ years and many long miles with no e-clip holding the shifter end of the cable in place, and never had one come off! As long as the cable holder is aligned properly... not a problem. This also makes dash removal for other repairs a heck of a lot easier. Corventure Dave

I also agree. Pinning defeats the purpose. I think perhaps the Chevy HP article had a dumb dumb point in it. The only other reason for pinning that I could think of, is if there was not enough clearance to have the double belt pulley. Corventure Dave

Have to determine where the leak is. The o-ring from the cable into the transmission? Or is there a crack or break in the nylon cable housing? When the vehicle sets, the touque-converter will drain down and overfill the transmission pan. Starting the engine draws the fluid back u and all is fine. Ah yes...1965 Coupe...... the actual speaker is the same as up front in the dash. Looks like you have the mounting brackets also. You will need the RH air cleaner can "lid" with the fitting for the PCV hose. Sam's picture shows this. I have also seen the same fitting on the air-cleaner crossover, tho not as that common. And Thank You to everyone for not calling it a PVC system!!! HA! That would melt! Corventure Dave

There have been reports over the years of the fan switch giving out when one of those higher output fan motors was installed without a relay. Apparently the switch cannot handle the extra load of the new motor. What I have done is install the relay and use the dash fan switch to close this relay and actuate the high output fan. The outward most or lower bolts on the clutch-flywheel or bellhousing do not have flat washers behind them. This is to allow clearance between the housing bolt heads and the flywheel rivet heads when the flywheel flex's under severe conditions. Lon, I believe that may be a State to State regulation on reflectors. I know in New York they mandated a specific amount of reflector material on all motorcycle helmets. Then there are emergency vehicles, even tho they get to do things the rest of us can not. As long as it is Red, I don't think it should be a problem.
