I knew Ward from back when I was on the CORSA BOD. There could not be a kinder, friendlier and more supportive member of the Corvair community. He will be truly missed. God's speed my friend. Corventure Dave

Could be a fun little car, however the cost to get it running and overall fixed up or restored will not be much different for a nice trimmed out Monza. And then the Monza will be a more desireable model for resale and $$$ value. Corventure Dave

Our situation... My lady driving home from work. A Drunk trying to run from the police rearended her new Acura. $12,000 damage. The drunk, no licence, no insurance, expired registration on a borrowed car, and NO GREEN Card! The Illegal bastard was locked up for 48 hrs and then a public attorny got him out on bail. Guess what? He skipped town, or at least took on a new identity. What wonderful c

I have both oil bath systems and they are the same 110 or 140. The crankcase vent tube for the oil bath is the same for both engines, but it is special for the oil bath filter system. The crankcase vent tube for a standard air filter "no oil bath" is different for 110 than 140. Yes the Turbo oil bath top, hose and air filter housing are completly impossible to find. I also have the oi

Jason, I found it.... go to www.busdepot.com. That's the site I found earlier. As for the Wastfalia Tent option. Looks like back in the 1970's it was a $1200 option, so origional Tent options for the VW's are hard to find due to their cost at the time. However, some other Corvair camping friends have foud some after long searches. Unfortunatly I cannot post pictures from thi

Are you looking for a Greenbrier Camper, or are you looking to use a Greenbrier as a camper? I ask this because I use my Greenbrier for a camper on occasions. Instead of a Van conversion, I have a free standing tent camper unit from a 1970's VW Westfalia. It attaches to the van making a 6X9 nice room. It is great! There is an outfit in.... I believe Pennsylvania that makes them today startin

Should not be hard to find. Easy to remove if done properly. I will look in my stash, but there should be some closer to you. Have you called the Corvair Ranch? Corventure Dave

My 1964 Corvair Greenbrier Van is a factory Powerglide. The Auto trans gave out... well it didn't stop working... it just started leaking fluid out the vent every time I parked it. I was upset... it only had 315,000 miles on it! I thought it should have made it to a half million miles but it didn't! Reliable? I bought the Brier with 96,000 miles on it. I have put 33 years of driving, tr

Craig has hit it on the head! Seems a lot of people ony do idol carb balance. There is "off idol" carb balance that Matt mentions. I use a vacuum gauge and a "T" fitting to each carb. Hold engine speed at 1200+ steady. Crimp the hose to the right carb, release and crimp the hose to the left carb. By adjusting the actuating rod on the left carb linkage, you should be able to ba

I run electric fuel pumps close to the tank. Do not run it through the mechanical fuel pump. There are bypass kit's that can be mounted in the fuel pump to avoid leaks if and when the pump gaskets fail. The bypass will avoid fuel in the crankcase or in the engine compartment, "potential fire". They are available from Corvair parts Venders or members here and will keep the fuel syst

Not an easy ring to find!!! Buttt there may be one out there. I have a 64 and have a wheel adapter from a Chevelle that made it possible to install the Corvair fake wood sport wheel with the 64 sport horn button. However... I think the 65 FC wheel and horn ring is one of the purddy-ist! Corventure Dave

Perfect!!! I did this to my fathers 1962 Ramp. Adapt a 65-66 steering cone and switch assembly to the 61-63 FC. Yes it can be done. I have tried to write a tech article about how I did it buttt every time it became tooo long and detailed. Great job Craig. What I did was use about 2 inches of the car column tube and found that it slipped over the FC tube perfectly. After positioning it, I welded

I have made some simple support brackets to hold the FC Heater box. This frees up the in bed floor panel for easy starter, heater hose and diff top cover access from the top. Sorry can not post pictures from this location, buttt it is easy to see how wto metal strips can be used to support the heater box. We have done this to every FC that has been in the family. Looks good! also it it a 61? I see windshield trim that indicates a delux, buttt I also see painted bumpers that indicates a standard 95. I personally like the bullet proof nature of Powerglides in Corvair trucks. The Std transmissions make them really perform, buttt after personally putting 280,000 miles on my Greenbrier with the automatic... I gotta say I like the Powerglide in a FC. You are g

For my FC, I just use the heater motor control switch to close a relay that runs the blower fan at one speed... High! I find that I only need the thing on or off anyway, seeing the air has to travel 40 miles to the dash from the engine. The first time I fired it up.... I really evacuated a lot of history from the heater duct! Corventure Dave

One of them Naugas just got away! Ine best cleaner I have used is hot-hot water. It works better than Simple Green and leaves no residue. Vinyl cleaners can be used buttt on lighter colors, especially white..if there is any resudue I find it will yellow in the sun. Another trick I do is to treat the cardboard backing with a waterproofing solution like Thompsons Water seal. If the old panels are
