Here is the MegaSquirt dashboard I set up in my VW. It uses a small android tablet. Its on a hinged mount so that I can fold it up under the radio when its not in use to preserver the OE look of the interior

What is the best method to remove the instrument cluster in at FC with a PowerGlide? I removed the bezel screws and speedo cable, this allowed me to pitch the cluster, but something which I could not see on the shifter side prevented removal. If I have to remove the shifter cable, will it have to be re-adjusted when I reinstall the cluster? Thanks

Thanks, I thought that the bushings were pressed one side at a time, now I see that both sides of the arm are in the press at the same time, hence the need to support the gap in the center. Thanks for the guidance.

I am planning to rebuild the front suspension on my Rampside. How should I use the upper and lower A Arm spacers shown on the Clarks web site? They are parts C5063C and C5063A. Thanks

First thing I have to do is instrument the engine bay so that I can get accurate and repeatable temperature data, gather a baseline from a repeatable test drive, then normalize for variations in outside temperature. This way I can tell if my changes are productive. I am studying data from another thread which has information on fan performance, so that I can understand the correct sizing fo

The fabrication involved is considerable, but should be fun.

I never knew there was a desert option package. This is such a great insight as it applies some of the design features that are also used in the VW. I will have to figure out how to adapt these to the Rampside's engine bay.

Thanks for the advice on percolation, I have never noticed a hard to start circumstance. I will have to check the temperature and pressures of my fuel lines post shutdown. When I got the truck I discovered that the PO had mis-wired the coil, bridging the running and cranking circuits to the coil, in 3 places no less! Once I set that straight it starts readily. Great discussion! Thanks

Its an interesting observation about engine heat rising into the top of the engine bay, via the stationary fan, post engine shutdown. On my air cooled Type III VW, the entire cooling and combustion air intake air path is ducted and sealed using large rubber bellows to allow for engine movement. I had never considered how this sealed duct arrangement controls the flow of hot air out the louver

I have an 'RG' code engine in my Rampside. Over the weekend I took the truck for a long drive, and popped open the hatch when I stopped. Several minutes after shutting the engine off, one carb gurgled and ejected about a tablespoon of gasoline. The gas emerged from around the cork gasket which seals the air cleaner to the top of the carb. I believe that I am experiencing heat sink

Unfortunately, I don't know the history of the vehicle. It's possible that it was part of a fleet purchase. It would be really interesting if the paint code led us to this conclusion, as it would add a fun bit of history to our truck.

Thanks, I found the 61 paint code reference in the documentation as well. I was confounded by the 61 code with the 63 VIN and thought I must be misinterpreting the information, hence my question on the forum.

Its perplexing, isn't it. The truck is an ordinary Rampside. The only options I can identify are the drivers side sun visor and arm rests (now missing).

I am trying to interpret the paint code from my 63 Rampside. I see 7290 in the image, but that is not a 63 code. Thanks for your help.

You are right about rearward travel. I want to add more forward travel, decreasing the distance to the pedals.

Here is a photo of my transmission linkage. I see now that the cable on the outside, which I had thought was the shifter cable is really the throttle cable, actuating the rod via the pivot at the transmission, and that the shifter cable is actually the one above it which is secured to the transmission with the bolt. Thanks everyone.

Hello, I am still getting acquainted with my 63 Rampside, I pulled out the timing light and found that I could not read the timing marks and there is no photo of the timing marks in the factory manual tune up section. Here is what I see, first on the left is a '0' mark, then going to the right, there is a vertical line, proceeding further to the right there are some marks which I c

On the drivers side of my Powerglide, I wee two cables. One is the shifter cable that I was expecting to see, it operates the selector lever on the side of the transmission, and has a gaiter covering the exposed cable. The other cable is the one I am not sure about. Its rigid, and attaches to the PG housing with a bolt. What does this second cable do, and how does it operate on the transmis

I have surmised that the 'N' designation in the schematic really means White. Curiously on my Rampside the wires to the connector are orange and white from the switch, and then dual black on the other side, as shown in the schematic. The problem with my switch turned out to be corrosion between the copper rivet connecting the wiper through the insulator and the silver (aluminum?) pl

Thanks everyone, this confirms my read of the schematic, now I know what part of the headlight switch is not working. I will try to pull the switch out later today.

I am trying to connect the dome light on my 63 Rampside. Mine is wired as shown in the attached schematic, which is Fig 8-36 from the shop manual section 8 for the 63 Corvair 95. Under the dash I have a two prong connector. This has two wires orange and white as shown in the schematic. This connector attaches to two black wires which head up and over the cab. These wires, I suspect are cut

Where are the door open switches located for the dome light on a 63 Rampside? I don't see any switches in the door jambs, nor any holes where the switches could have been. Thanks
