What would one do in this scenario. You have a damaged LM and for repairs you have to change to front rail that contains the hidden VIN. If you replace it with a donor, now the car has 2 different VINs. What is the opinion on this?

Al, It is located in Manchester TN. That is an hour north of Chattanooga in I-24 if that helps. Maybe I can get a look at it again Monday and get pictures.

I stumbled on a '64 Greenbrier, 110 PG today at a junkyard. It has only been there a couple of weeks. It is not mine. I stopped to see if it was for sale and it is. I happen to know the junkyard land is being sold so it will not be a junkyard for long. It will probably be crushed soon. Probably get it for a couple hundred or less. It is very rough but complete with what looks like the orig

Rick, I know you are now looking for early trim tags but I have a '66 tag for you. You probably don't see many with the Power Rear Antenna body option. It is also a fairly early '66 conv. See attached. Hope this adds to your collection.

Scott, More info on the '66 power antenna. I was digging through my tags and found the trim tag from the '66 Monza conv that I junked umpteen years ago, but I saved the trim tag. Note that the car was maroon, white power top and the power rear antenna. See picture.

Anybody have a picture of the blue and silver GM sticker that goes on the door of a '68. I think it was only used in '68. I need to put mine back on but would like to see where it goes in relation to the latch. Maybe the location was not exact.

I would sure like to find a quick ball nut, otherwise my NOS worm is no good. PM with a price for one of you quick boxes and I will let you know. Anybody out there have a bad quick box that I could salvage the ball nut?

Last time I had this problem it was simply a bad condenser. I spent several days troubleshooting only because condensers "are never bad". We all replace them when we replace points, but they are always good. Once I listened to my father and changed the condenser, started right up. I won't do that again.

I am trying to convert a standard steering box to a quick steering box. I have an NOS quick worm gear. Are the worm nuts with the balls the same for quick or standard? I know the sector gears are all the same.

I have the assembly manual. Just trying to get a clearer picture of the "production wiring" shown. I have also looked at the Body Assembly Manual and it does not match this one. So I thought if I could get a picture of an actual unmolested car it would clear things up.

Still looking for this information, I know someone out there has a '66 conv with a power top that can take a picture of the circuit breaker by the battery. Thanks, Dennis

Could someone please post a picture of the circuit breaker on a '66 convert with a power top. I need to confirm how it is mounted and wired. Also, a picture of the location of the hole in the rear shelf where the wires for the power top motor are routed.

The compression using 140 heads will be too high. Severe detonation with turbo boost. You would have to mill the combustion chamber to lower compression. And I have no idea about the increased flow. GM balanced the carburetor, turbo, intake, and exhaust very well (in my opinion).

That is the trouble with cork gaskets, they are worthless. I only use paper with Permatex on pan side, Copper Coat on block side. Never have leaks and never have to retighten.

I have seen somewhere a write-up of what was originally painted and what was left bare under the LM's, especially '66. Can't find it now. Anyone know for a stock look what I should paint, what not to paint?

I need to know what suspension components under a LM ('66) get painted and which stay natural. I think I saw that information on this site but cannot find it again. Also, the under carriage of the car, is it: 1) black 2) primed with the car and then car color overspray 3) car color 4) combination of above

Being in the plastics industry in the past, I believe the numbers on the bottom of the bottles (#10, #11 etc) are cavity numbers in the glass mold. Has nothing to do with year of production.

Were the LM ('65-'66) quick steering arms ever offered without the quick steering box? In the past I found several cars with quick arms but either did not check for the box or it was not quick. Therefore, I have the arms but no box to go with them. Thanks

Need a little help identifying some LM steering boxes. I have a couple of boxes with a 14 5/16" shaft measuring the shaft that sticks out of the box (from the seal). I think this is early '65 telescopic. I have a couple that measure 15 5/16". I think this is late '65 &'66 all. Can anyone confirm this please. Thanks

Just noticed on the CORSA dashboard that I have been a member since May 14,1969. That is an interesting date in the Corvair world. Anybody else on that date?
