My '66 140 PG runs and shifts very smooth. No problem running 80mph. I have a 140 governor on a 110 PG so the shift points are raised. Problem is it won't shift at full throttle. It runs up to about 45mph and levels out and will not shift. I have to lift a little for it to shift. Any suggestions?

I have a '66 140 PG. All carbs are clean using my ultrasonic cleaner. Primaries have 51 jets, secondaries have 48 jets. When the secondaries start to open the engine bogs down and goes flat. Lift a little to close and smoothes out. Any suggestions?

I use my car skates for toe plates. Put car on all four, car is level. Also, car is about 3 inches higher than sitting on the floor. Makes it easy to make adjustments. Also, skates will move fore and aft for caster.

I hardly think whacking with a rubber mallet was a standard assembly process. I have been in the automotive industry for many years and that is laughable. No standard assembly process will include "whack it with a rubber mallet" because it is not quantitative. Just as momach asked, how much, where? Every technician would do it different. All assembly processes are well defined and repeatable

This is a new one on me. Running a LM PG 140. Transmission up shifts and down shifts perfect. All good except - I back up then put it back in drive. If I accelerate normally all is good. If I accelerate fast I hear a rumble and can feel it as well. Only does this for a second or two then gone. Now if I stop and accelerate full throttle all is good. Only hear and feel the slight rumble fo

Of course if you patch a clutch cable like this is it considerably shorter and your free play is out of adjustment. Clutch fork is probably against the throw out bearing all the time which will wear it out. This is only a fix to get you home so it can be fixed correctly.

To J3M, I am sorry you don't know enough about Corvairs to fix one so you can dependably drive it. If you want a new car with all the trimmings, please buy one. Quit trying to compare a Corvair to a new econobox. All of the Corvairs GM built have driven millions of miles but you cannot get one to drive everyday to the store. Please, quick, sell your Corvairs to someone that can use them and

Take a thick washer with the correct ID. Slot it so it can be slid between the spring and the riveted part. This in effect tightens the spring.

Bill, Are you restoring this car to completely stock? If so should you paint all engine sheet metal vs powder coat. The trained eye can tell powder from liquid.

I read several posts in the past that viton seals do not seal well on moving parts. Viton is well suited for o-rings that do not move. Accelerator pump moves constantly. Can't have it both ways.

The band clamp is for an early model. LM were "V" shaped. Also, where are the studs in the exhaust housing? LM had studs.

Dave, I assume all of these cars that you cut apart are wrecked in some way. Can't imagine these cars are rust free and they are being cut up just for the parts.

I need to buy a new windshield and the ones from Safelite look appealing. Can anyone with a new Safelite windshield take a picture of it. I want to see what the shading at the top looks like. The windshield I am replacing has only about a 1 1/2" shading, it is aftermarket with no brand that I can find. Hopefully the Safelite shading is more like the original LOF glass.

Will, No. Clark's fuzzies are thinner than NOS ones. If all 7 of the other ones are original GM, the Clark's thin one will be obvious. So, looking for GM part# 4531603. Thanks
