Bill - Thank you for checking on these parts for me! Does anyone else have a used working motor and two transmission/gear boxes that you're looking to sell?

Here's an update. I made some progress and was able to remove the broken transmission/gear box which allowed me to manually close and latch the top. (See attached pics). I also confirmed that the power top motor is not working when I activate the power top switch for both up and down operation. I hear the relay clicking which I'm thinking means the relay is functioning correctly. I

junkman - I'm seriously considering your suggestion to just convert it to a manual top and would assume that the transmissions/gear boxes would have to be removed. Beyond that, I wouldn't know what the next step/s are which brings up a number of initial questions for me. - Could the conversion be done without the top and top frame being removed from the vehicle? Maybe one side at a

Once you get it apart, the aluminum housing can be TIG welded and it will be as strong as the original. The nice thing about tig welding is that it can be shaped where necessary to provide clearances

At this point, I would be inclined to think that you are going to have to remove the entire top assembly to get everything loose and apart. I have never removed a late model top assembly, but the one thing that I will caution you about is to spra

Also, I just test the motor and nothing happens. Could it be a bad relay or just the motor? Here's another pic from below.

I was able to access the motor and disconnect the two cables. Then I tried to manually move the top up and down and it is still stuck. The driver's side seems like it wants to move but the passenger side won't budge. As I was looking at the convertible top gearing on the passenger side I noticed that something that did not look right. It appears as if a piece a bracket has cracked and i

I just checked the continuity of the CB and get a reading of 12.62 volts, which makes me think that isn't the problem. Am I correct? I researched some of the previous posts about the power top and the diagrams are very helpful. Since I can hear the relay clicking when I press the

junkman and 2ragtops, Thank you both for replying so quickly! First, I'll start with checking the CB for corrosion. Do these go bad? Is there a trip mechanism in this CB like a CB in a electric panel? If that doesn't get it to work then on to removing the panels and disconnecting the cables so I can at least get the top up.

Hello all. I have an issue with the power top on my '68 where it is stuck half way up. The top has been down all summer and when I recently tried to put it up it only went up a few inches then stopped. Subsequently, every time I pull the switch to continue raising or lowering the top I only hear clicking and no further movement. I tried lowering and raising it manually but it won't b

You don't happen to have one of those brackets already made

Need some additional help/advice, please. First, thank you to everyone for the very helpful information. I ordered and received the Hi Output alternator and the M&H adapter kit, however I hit a slight snafu when I went to install the "new" Hi Output unit yesterday. The hole on the left side of the alternator where the vertical bracket is supposed to attach is not in the same

I've received my "new" internally regulated 63 amp alternator and now am ready to install it into my '66 Monza 140. I have a connection question. I'm told both red wires connect to the terminal on the back of the alternator. Where does the white wire connect? Here are pics of the "new" alternator and the wiring/plug in my '66 if this helps. Thanks!

Wagon Master - Ah, I see that now. Interesting how there's such a difference in how they each handle core charges/refunds. Thank you! 66vairman - Thank you for the info! Some of your posts on this subject were very helpful in me settling on the 63 amp internally regulated. How much less expensive is buying a rebuilt 10SI and doing the swap with the 10DN as opposed to purchasing a new Hi
