Ok, I read Bob Helt's books and am now more confused that ever about what engine oil we should be using, by viscosity and brand. I never use the vair in real cold weather, not even rain. Live in northern OH just south of Cleveland. Need comments about oil use with our sliding lifters. Comments?

Have you considered putting tubes and flaps in the tires so you do not have leakers? I have wire wheels on my 64 red vert with Firestone FR380 tires. Looks great!

I got a speeding ticket in Texas a couple of years ago. I have never been in Texas. That was also a VERY BIG PIA to get corrected. blurry picture of my OHIO plate. Colors did not even match! Again, a real PIA.

I installed a P-II with their coil in my 64 Monza 110. A friends failed so I took mine out and put points back in. Runs great again!

I was able to change the rear tail/turn signal lights with Walmart LEDs in my 64 Monza. No problems, no grinding and they work fine. Left the front turn signal lights alone.

Candle wax is great for the zipper. Just rub it on and zip. Can't use too much either.

I switched to the Clark rubber. No leaks so far. You might get the book from Clark's about Corvair leaks, quite educational

My 64 Monza 110 ran really badly on the EFI (same as yours, Pertronix II). I put the points, condenser back in. So did a friend of mine with a 65. His EFI actually just quit. Both cars run really well now. Something to think about

For those of you with convertibles, candle wax seems to me to be the best lubricant for the zippers. Found this by experience, and it works! Just use an old candle and rub it on the zipper and carefully zip the window in with the top being not completely up. Good luck.

I took the quick shifter off my 64 Monza. I like to feel the shift. Welcome to the group of lucky Corvair owners. Love my convertible. Get lots of thumbs up.

Thank you all for your responses. As I recall, I did not have dieseling before I changed to the electronic ignition, thus I will try reinstalling the points/condenser and see what happens. A corvair friend had his ignitor II crap out on him on the road and we replaced it with the old point system. All is well with him too. Thanks again.

I have a 1964 Monza 110 that "runs on" after the ignition is shut off. I am using premium gas, the timing is set to 12 BFTC and plugs are set to 0.030, new plugs and wires. It has an electronic ignition module Ignitor II and appropriate Ignitor II coil. I have put "sea-foam" in the gas as well as tried to induce water thru the carbs to loosen any carbon build up. No luck. Any ideas?

I recently put Pertronics Ignitor II electronic ignition on my 64 Monza. Directions say to replace the resistor wire with 12 ga. copper multiple strand wire. But car runs fine as is. Comments? Do I need to replace this resistor wire? Thanks
