Well looks like I will be using what I have then and bolting it up. I could probably gain a bit by swapping them around a bit to match the bigger pistons to bigger cylinders, might improve by a couple of tenths. That decision made I need to split the cases to check crank and cam, it needs a thorough clean as this was a good engine which through my own fault got water in it ruining the +0.060 cyli

I am building an engine up out of the best bits to hand.I have measured the best pistons from a 64 110, (GM cast by the looks of it),by micrometer on centre line of the pin and at 90 degrees to it. The cylinders are from a 65 110 which I have measured using a 3 leg bore micrometer mid way down the cylinder, the cylinders have been cleaned up with a 3 leg hone in a hand drill. Thanks for the thoughts. In answer to a couple of questions yes I have the complete 64 set up including the 64 coil springs. I intend to use the 64 engine, it is currently being taken apart to inspect, it displayed some impressive blow by when I ran it but I think it is probably gummed rings due to years of standing idle, but we will see. I have plenty of time to consider the diff options though,

OK so to explain my thought process on this I am in the UK, Corvair parts are not so easy to find. I have a 61 4 speed car. I managed to pick up a 64 110 engine which came bolted to the transaxle and subframe including everything right down to the wheels. It would be nice to use the 64 set up in my 61 but I don't want a powerglide so I was exploring how best to make it work. It may be that i

So is it a difference in the case or the internals? Will the 4 speed internals build into the powerglide case? Or do I just run the transverse leaf resting on the 61 case?

My car is a 61 4 speed, I have got hold of a 64 rear suspension which has a powerglide trans on it. Is is possible to use the 64 powerglide diff on the 61 4 speed so I can run the 64 transverse leaf spring?

I am off to the Goodwood revival Friday and Saturday, I am only 2 1/2 hours from it but have never been yet. I have been to the festival of speed twice but this is my first time at the Revival. I will report on any Corviar sightings, there are a few over here so you never know! Anyone making the trip over the pond to attend?

Hi Joel, Just curious, what do you do or intend to do with all these corvairs? Are you parting them out, selling the good ones or just like to collect them? Tell me to mind my business I won't be offended and do not intend to offend you, just wondering!

It is a shame he won't ship to the UK now. It limits my options somewhat. I guess he has his reasons but Clarks are able to ship over to the UK.

A friend of mine over here in the UK has a Toyota Landcruiser with over 600K on it, quite an accomplishment remembering how small our island is conpared to the vastness of the USA! Here is a link to an article about it click

While we are on the subject of big money auctions the "Bullitt mustang is going through Mecum's on Friday, I am interested to see what that makes. An iconic car driven by an iconic man in an iconic film! Not a corvair I know but any classic car man has got to be watching that one.

So making my lunch to take to work this morning had the TV on in the kitchen to hear the latest arguing over brexit (yawn), went upstairs to say goodbye to the family, got back downstairs and Ralph Nader was on the TV! I only caught the end of it but it was a news item about the Boeing that fell out of the sky recently, probably flipped on it's roof...
