Got the new mirror installed, and it looks really good! Received word it has been accepted into the Forest Grove Concourse for 7/17. It will be ready.

Got the proper remote mirror assembly for my early 1966 Corsa convertible. Now I have one that is both Correct and Right. Very pleased!

One of the folks on the Forum had a remote late 65/early 66 remote mirror assembly. It showed up today. Problem solved. It's the correct mirror and this time it's also right. Doesn't even need to be rechromed. Thanks to Dennis Kittel of Murfreesboro TN for sending it along. Now down to just one last thing and this project is a wrap. After 7 long years, nice to be able to say

The comparison has come up periodically for 50 years. But in the end, the conclusion is this: Car manufacturers are Not in the business of making cars. They are in the business of making money. Cars are just a means to that end. The boffins at GM have always been afraid of their own shadows when it comes to cars. The place has been run by bean counters since forever, and if something looks li

Waiting expectantly this weekend for a FedEx package with a remote mirror assembly in it. This matter may well be on its way to being solved. The waiting is really hard!

I told your plater to put everything on hold till I get the mirror from Dennis Kittel. If it's usable, there'll be no need to risk your part for my convenience. He should be getting payment today (Thursday) and I expect to get the part early next week. (Memorial Day will intervene, I suspect.) This whole scene is just a little tricky, but I think things will work out OK. I'll

Not resolved so far. That's nice plating work. I do have a later one in excellent shape, but it's not the correct assembly. It doesn't have the bowtie on the post.

30-mile round trip to the audio store and back. New radio installed and it looks right and sounds Great! Total miles since rebuild completed - 398. Still trying to chase down a proper mirror.

Still trying to get in contact about the mirror. My Pm sender doesn't seem to be working. Can you get back in touch please?

I tried to reply to the PM, but don't see it in the messages sent file. Did you happen to get the reply?

I am now advised that the assembly I own cannot be fixed properly. So am still looking for the proper post with the bow tie. I don't really need the entire assembly, if that's not serviceable. Still looking and hoping.

This is a photo of an original stalk bowtie, though unchromed. I am assured that it is possible to rechrome this without filling in the bowtie as much as the one I have.

The bow tie is there but has been filled in with a bad chroming job. It should be clear and sharply defined. This is the vertical post between the door and the round mirror. I have an inquiry into a rechroming shop, but don't know if the excess plating could be removed and redone. You can see that it's correct, but it's just not right. There is another issue around the circumfe

Continuing with my ongoing paranoia, I would like to protect the paint job on my Corsa convertible. Mostly the front from normal road particals and the quarter panels where the tires kick up small stones that can chip paint. Does anyone have any experience with that sort of thing? Is there any application that can be put on temporarily for driving, and then removed for shows?

For what seems to be the first time in forever, it looks as though come Tuesday the roads will be dry so I can take the car to the audio shop for the replacement of the radio. One more thing done. But I won't drive it on wet roads. Passed on a car show today down in the People's Republic of Eugene for just that reason.

I could take another tack on this. The event I am working towards is the Forest Grove Concours in July. The car is entered in a pretty tough class -- GM cars 1960-1972. If someone were willing to rent me the use of a good one for that week, I'd be happy to pay a reasonable cost just to present the car in its best light. I'd take off the current mirror assembly, put a better one on

Mine is complete, but unless I can replace it with something better, I'll just hold on to it.

...or parts. Late 65 early 66 remote control mirror, especially the stalk with the bow tie on it. Mine is good but not Quite right. Would also like the mirror housing itself. It's about the last thing I might get dinged on in a concours, and getting it right would put my mind at ease. For a good one, even if it needed to be rechromed, I'd be willing to part with cash and my curren

Does anyone have enough experience with a good camera that can be mounted on an enclosed car hauler, with a screen that can be inside the towing vehicle. I've had bad luck finding good trailer mirrors that can fit a 1995 C2500 I use for towing. I'd like to be a good citizen on the road while I'm towing the trailer/car around this summer. Apparently the wireless bluetooth cameras

Bought a working thermostat from Duane Wentland, and Rex Johnson came out to my shop to replace it. Now it works as it ought. I figured having Rex do it would save a lot of time and bother. In the process of removing the car from the bubble, noticed that something has leaked probably through the shifter tube. That's a bother! When Rex redid the entire drivetrain some years ago, he built
