Here is a link to look at about this site that might compliment your Corvair spirit (compliments of the Stickies at the top of the threads on the main page here:

you invited this forum to opine on BaT and it quickly diverged into the antics of ralf who; for which this wasn't probably what you sought from us. To answer your inquest, BaT has exploded on the "scene" of online car auctions and appears to be a leading force on 'true market value'. Ultimately you have to weigh all your options and your desired effect.

Starr Cooke is the Man. Been following him on Ebay for years. He is my inspiration.
So PDF away if he allows it.
He must be one really awesome cool dude.
His builds are fascinating.
-Chris (A long way from CA) Forum: Corvair Center Forum 6 weeks ago cfmann my apologizes I actually meant phosphate not chromatic in original post, I must have been thinking about plating when typing chromatic. sorry for confusion.
I am guessing Marine Clean and Metal Clean are synonymous.
POR15 (and similar related urethane technologies) has its place in the market, just as epoxies, lacquers, and enamels do. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 6 weeks ago cfmann the "finish the floor plan" thread spawned a free thought in my head
POR15 has 3 steps - clean, etch, paint
and sold as a system of course buy all three parts with name brand association.
BUT:
isn't aqueous metal cleaner (step 1) all the same? I mean, one could substitute "less expensive" alternatives, or ones that are readily over-the-counter, so to speak?

knew about How to Hot Rod, don't have that one.
Thanks!!!! Forum: Corvair Center Forum 7 weeks ago cfmann Hi all:
I was wondering if there exists a step-by-step book for building a Corvair engine from the ground up?
I have some books, one by Clymer Publications, Autobooks 947, the Tech manuals from CORSA, How to Keep your corvair alive, etc.
The Clymer and Autobooks are good but somewhat generic in nature.
Just thought I'd ask the Forum out loud.
Thanks

I know of Pete, probably even corresponded with him in years passed, about something or another.
this cross member came out of #1112 that I parted out a long time ago, so I have two of almost everything mechanically speaking for '69.
there really is no purpose to doing this other my attempt Forum: Corvair Center Forum 3 months ago cfmann Hi all:
I recently had a nicer 69 front crossmember de-rusted and direct to immersion e-coat and baked that I had laying around along with some other parts. Photos attached show the results.
I was contemplating my next move, I think I want to spray a high build primer over this and sand down for a generally smoother appearance. I wasn't looking for perfection as this is more an educational Forum: Corvair Center Forum 4 months ago cfmann bump

you stated early on you had a '69. another forum user '66vairman' indicated you may have emissions equipment on the motor. In '68 and '69 Corvair models, Chevrolet installed what was referred to as A.I.R. equipment. In a general sense/description it was made up of uniquely designed exhaust manifolds, a belt driven air pump, and lots of steel pipes and rubber hoses Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago cfmann I have Michelin on all my daily driver cars (up to 4 now) after years and years of trying different brands. The Michelins just last and last and last and have left me with a lasting impression for quality and longevity. That said, I've never experienced any dry rot on my sidewalls like you have described. Albeit my climate is a bit different than yours (WI versus CA).
