Jim, the classic and the ultra soft versions are 100% cotton. Looking at my tags now. Sorry about the customer service, I'm not running it, just using it as a storefront! I don't know how clear that's been with all my t-shirt postings, but I design these myself!

I feel like *I'M* admitting to a nefarious deed, and maybe I am, but I'm pretty sure I helped out the guy who Dave W. mentioned has been asking around. I don't use the Facebook forums as much as I do this one, so I didn't know he'd been trolling the groups. The other day I posted that picture of Dinah Shore on Corvair Owners Group, and not long after he PM'd me.

I don't think I'll ever break even on strictly the basis of the amount of money I've put into my car. Fairly certain I've spent 3 times what I paid for it at this point, with more to come. Silver lining in that, is as a movie guy I've been able to write off just about all of it in taxes, because I use the car in my shorts and spots. Turns it into a business expense.

I found the site after someone asked me about how to replace the tags on a restoration he was doing. I only know the guy through Facebook, it kinda didn't occur to me that he might do anything except faithfully recreate what the car had originally. I'm probably too naïve in that regard.

I paid $1500 for some body work and $1500 more for my paint job. I think it is a superb job, and it still looks great 3 years on. I have had some dings, but in each case I caught the ding-er and had them pay to repaint.

This feels like a thread that really should exist. I did some poking around and found this website out of France. Classic VIN Tags VIN Plate Body Tag Body Plate They do a LOT of car types. And these are correct for Corvairs (at least LM): VIN Plates Body Tag

The Corvair was a revolution and everyone in Detroit that wasn't at GM was afraid of it. I still wonder what might have been if GM had stayed brave.

Hey all, So sorry that nearly TWO YEARS got away from me with this discussion. Do I get to blame Covid-19? So, I got Al's muffler installed by a local shop. I bought the proper hardware for attaching it from him and from Clarks, but I decided I didn't really care about all that and let the shop hang it however they wanted to. I gave the box of Clark's hardware away when I did

Thank you so much, Dan! I especially appreciate the re-centered advice, now that I am in Fargo instead of on the West Coast. For those still out there, I recommend Paolo Galli in Atascadero, CA. He is going over my car as we speak, getting it ready for the trip from there to Fargo--being driven all the way. I am not sure if he would authorize giving out his contact info, so I will just

Very likely. But with the configuration of those U-Haul trailers, with the big wheel wells on the sides I've never trusted backing in!

I just thought I'd take a moment to thank the San Diego chapter of CORSA for all their efforts to arrange the National Convention. They dealt with issues no one else ever had to deal with, and got all their ducks in row--twice!--and I'm sure cancellation of the 2020, and now 2021 convention, have hit them as hard as any of us. Thank you, San Diego. Catch you next time.

For those who were asking, The truck was a pickup rental from U-Haul. I basically rented the truck and the trailer. So I think it was about 1500 size. Referencing it in terms of Chevys. The car was facing forward on the trailer. I understand that this hasn't been everyone's experience I'm just letting you know mine. This was on the 91 freeway in California, heading slightl

I know this thread is played out, but I wanted to emphasize speed limits while towing, whether with a dolly or not. A few years back, down in the days when California Corvairs was on Temescal Canyon Road, I put my LM 66 Coupe 500 on a U-haul flatbed trailer and took it from Buena Park out to his place. The trailer was marked for 55 miles an hour, and I was pulling it with a pickup truck on

In Porterville, CA, I turned a neighbor's teenager on to mine. Had him helping me out with little projects. Now instead of saving up for a Mustang he is saving up for a Corvair. Also had a kid walking by while I was working on it with the garage door open one night. He stopped to talk and by the time we were done he declared that the Corvair was his new favorite car. I often have guys

Joel, You are right. I was wrong. I read it again and again and didn't get it, but after your note, I do: I thought it was saying that both the Monza and the Corsa were available on all four engines. It was saying that all four engines could be had with both the 3 and four-speed transmissions. So, no not a 180 Monza--but maybe a 4-speed 95! Were there a lot of those??

According to this blurb published in Motor trend in 1964, ALL engines were available to the Monza and the Corsa. Does that mean it was possible to get a Monza Turbo?? The established thinking being that it was not, are we wrong 50 years later, or were they? The picture was posted on Facebook by Steve Clinton.
