Departing Orlando on 12 July in my Silverado with Travel Trailer in tow. Headed up I-95 to South Carolina, then I-26 to I-77 to spend a few nights with step-son in Christiansburg, VA. Then on to Washington, PA via I-77/I-79 to spend time with family in Canonsburg.

I will have a truckload of A/C parts (Late Model) going to Helen, GA this weekend. Mostly the easier to find parts, but will have a complete pressure tested evaporator box with new TXV for R-134a, including the blower motor housing, etc. Also have some round outlets, but painted black. I believe, back in the '80s, GM started installing Vehicle Speed Sensors (VSS) in their fuel injected cars. Some were installed on the end of a standard speed-O cable, and fed through to the speed-O. They also had wires to feed the computer. I believe AutoMeter gauges have a very wide range of inputs that can drive there gauges, and will need to be calibrated when installed. Doesn't seem too diff

I don't get a lot of opportunities to drive her car, but on one occasion I did leave the parking brake engaged while trying to accelerate. The car didn't budge, but I didn't floor it either. Seat of the pants says it will hold up. Operation appears to be a servo rotating the piston against the rotor. Been crazy busy to do more than some on-line research.

Posted this on the V8 Registry forum, but since the topic came up here, I'll ask here as well. Has anyone explored the option of using an Electronic Parking Brake similar to what the late model Audi/VWs use? My wife's 2017 Ford Edge also has this feature, and every time I pull the jack out and go for the air tools, she makes sure I'mm not going for her Edge.

I'm in the same boat. I grew up in the mountains of Western PA and work has me living in Orlando, FL now. I've worked for NASA or the Navy (in one way or another) since was 18. Now looking at Eastern Tenn or Northern GA as a place to call home. Decision isn't firm yet, but we are looking for land.

Passenger side of the diff, next to the part line for the transmission.diff. Scrape off the grease and dirt and wire brush it till you find a series of letters and numbers. Post that data here and we will decode it for you, or take a trip to Corvair.com and read their tech pages if you're a do-it-yourselfer. This doesn't guarantee what's inside the case is what was delivered, but not many people

Understood Mike, but I’ve already layed eyes on the offending synchro’s. They need replaced. Not having an issue with the transmission that’s currently in there, this is my back-up. When I’m ready to re-assemble, the V8 Registry has the centering tool, and I will give it a try (as opposed to dial indicator method). Thanks.

More pic's please. Getting ready to rebuild my spare V8 tranny and all I have are the conversion instructions. Managed to find a set of NOS GM synchro blocking rings and I can finally fix the popping out of gear problem.

Hmmmm..... I just used some paint stripper and then a good water rinse with a scrub brush. Rustoleum primer and gloss black paint.

Thanks for the reply Ken. Normally, I would toss this on the recycle pile, but it's harder to do when you have sweat equity in it. The 4-speed internals I just removed are going to have a nice storage container for now.

Matt, Don't have a problem ID'ing. More a problem remembering where this case came from. I just didn't realize I even had a 3-speed case. Pulled it off the shelf and cleaned it up and had it primed before noticing.

Thanks Mike. I managed to get a 4-speed disassembled and will do a more in-depth internal inspection tomorrow when I get the 4-speed case cleaned up. Determined not to throw this case out.
