Might as well take it down to check the crank bearings, crank and cam, if those are ok, ask around and get the cylinders you need and gaskets, rings, and bearings and put it back together. may cost a little more but then at least you know what you have. looks like you have the ability to get it done.

I would think that if the car did not come like that, and corvairs did not, and doing the work makes the motor function better, it would be a performance mod. Same with cam changes, intake improvement, headers, better ignition, Seven quart finned

Here is good explanation of why this modification is effective and how the valve grind improves performance. justifying why the mod is worth while.

Mark to state "Certainly not even close to the quality external with rusted, uncleaned sheet metal, many different and missing misc screws and bolts, carburetors unattended, oil leaks and on and on." Is true it is a mid west corvair. But to state "There is NOTHING Yenko about that Engine" is not. Cam is, bored +60 pistons is , improved carb and intake sure is, adding Headers is. If other

Mark, That is coming from the PO of the Parts Car, builder of the donor motor with the +60 TRW Forged pistons, 10.5/1 CR, de-flashed and ported heads the 280 Crower Cam, Crower chrome silicon race valve springs, performance modifications installed. To refer to it as "Just Stock" from someone with your knowledge and expertise of Corvair cars seems strange and I have to wonder why.

Hi Mark what do you consider stock? Would +60 TRW Forged pistons be stock? Is 10.5/1 CR stock? And the de-flashed and ported heads with a tri angle valve grind, was that stock? And for sure the 280 Crowe

Hi Mark, See you guys won an award, way to go, nice car. Wondering as you know both motors, if the 'good' 140 from the part car was an improvement over the original? Also any idea what HP the 'good' 140 can produce? Thanks.

I must have missed that. Least I knew per the story was motor was still an unknown. From the latest addition to the story "“The good news?” Mark continued, “Is that the engine sounds good. But…well...” Wait, I thought we were done with the bad news part of our show… “…you can have a bunch of parts, but if it’s not built well, it really doesn’t mean anything. And I

HI To follow up on this: Did look very close at 2 2 brl weber carbs. To much variability and seemed fussy too. So did have the current carb rebuild it is a 750 CMF quadjet and getting that installed. So I'll share results once running. Thank you for all the feedback.

I vote to Build one. Get a case that will work and collect all the cool stuff you want to make it run hard as new parts, and spec the head work to use all the cool stuff to its' maximum capabilities, assemble, the fun part, then swap more fun, and sort from there, then run it hard. Best to you.

Hi Looking to change out a leaking center mounted 4 Brrl with no low end off a good running 140, to something different. 4 Brrl is 640 CFM, and is from 1971. I would really like 2 newer modern 2 brrls, or 2 TB's with modern features, but still use all 4 of the 140's intakes. Let me know your thoughts and what known available part could be used to make this work. I m ok with new, but will
