Sadly just a design anomaly... park and shut off with just the right conditions and it smokes... Visible oil is not good.. but if it doesn't foul the plug.... drive it..

Top shroud hole absolutely.. Lower "outlets" your choice... factory did it.... but those pieces are hard to find..

Buy some Roof Flashing.... Make your own covers...easy to work with! ONLY the shroud hole is important for engine COOLING.

Heads are identical left or right.. Only 62-4 turbo, 65-6 140 and 180 have the deep fine threaded hole..

I would say the one on the right is original...as that's all I've ever found.. The others are shorter...most likely came from other model carbs? As you know many of us shorten the stock arm to get a better squirt.

Instructions are in the FAQ's Never tighten a 1/4-20 bolt that tight... Max. torque is in INCH lb. That's a screwdriver style nut driver just snug with your hand OR just the 7/16" socket and an extension for the handle... no tighter..

Everything is upside down to keep it simple.... I've also got the instructions on how to flip just the differential on a PG.... although Warren LeVeque ran his PG upside down as well... and it worked fine... Sadly much more involved in this mod..

Correct.. the starter will hang low! Not much to it.... Cut the B-H and seal the Diff. vent...drill another on NEW top after installing

Tony, if ground clearance won't be a problem with this vehicle.... just slice and rotate the Corvair bellhousing and mount the Vair transaxle upside down.... that's keep costs down! Been done many times!
