Reading this last post, plus previous ones discussing the pulley... I've wondered what the improvement would be if the Belt / pulley was eliminated! The Wayne 100 flows tremendous air even when the OE '61-3 HD fan is replaced with a Mag Fan Cut down to 8"!! iirc.. [ fan had 2 broken fins ] Stock pulley fits under fan.... just need to change the Idler and Alt. positions

I think it has to do with timing! Take a year to build the car... Hold and enjoy for 10 Sell.... = a profit.. Take 10 years to build Hold and enjoy for ONE year Sell....= LOSS No chance for inflation!

Anything with "poppet" valve s will pass thru... so mechanicals are always good. It's the electric rotaries... if pieces break..they can restrict / plug the outlet.. In my '67 I just carry a spare in the trunk...5 minutes and I'm off and running...

Forget the Fuel!! Our engines will idle fine on 80 octane... with or without lead / ethanol... Fuel only comes into play under LOAD and High Temp! How did you get a wire thru ALL passages...???? Use compressed air!

No idea on the valve body.... but trans should still shift. All you can do is rotate the SWIVEL CCW 2 turns at a time and test..although this is usually done to adjust speed of Part Throttle shifts..

But in DRIVE... at WOT, even with a 140hp Governor.... it should upshift automatically at 47-49 mph... There is an internal shaft seal at the rear pump... when leaking will not build enough pressure... Dennis, have you tried the TransX or Lucas product yet?

Haven't you been able to connect with the NE Wisconsin Club? Although EARLY Aircooled VW engines are similar most didn't have 2 carbs... A GOOD VW mechanic may be no better than a bad Corvair mechanic! Your carb doesn't need a rebuild most likely... just a cleanout. But like Larry C., a good Vairmech will start at square one and work up from there....takes 5 minutes and a few sim
