I've been using the paint stripper wheels from HF in my grinder to remove and surface the panels on the J-Side (Rampside). Works well, leaves a nice surface finish - I find using the edge of the wheel works better and lasts longer than using the flat. Still have to get into the nooks and crannies with the wire wheel, but all works well. When I can remove a panel, will use aircraft strippe

I know Jeff @ CC has them - listed as a full set, which I don't need - just the outside and center. Clark's doesn't list them, have not had a chance to call. Figured I would ask here as most members I have dealt with are genuine and happy to help out with a small part when needed at a fair price.

I'm with Craig on his statement! $5500 is a big ask for a lot of unknowns - IMHO.

Working on the J'side - have 3 questions for the wise ones: 1.) Vent windows: What is the correct finish? Mine are black - is this factory or they polished "silver metal"? 2,) Lap belts - What is the best/ stock/ correct length to order" 60", 74"? For an average/ slim human? Going with just lap belts - J'Side has the pre drilled holes on the inboard - I can

Wondering if anybody has some FC Auto Vent Shades (GM Acc'y #985025 - Vent Shade # G-63) that they could measure. Maybe post a photo with the dimensions? Thinking of trying to fab up a set as finding them is a chance affair if not way out of my budget. Thanks in advance. Jaeson

Picked up a fresh 18 ga floor pan patch panel for the passenger side on the Rampside. Fabbed up in a few hours by local Hot Rod shop owner Troy Ladd at Hollywood Hotrods. I drew up a shop drawing and brought in a small cut out for reference. The channels and spacing are dead on. Original Crusty Floor: New Patch Panel:

Hey Wagon Master, Thanks for the reply. Just the plastic part is what I am looking for, something in better condition than I currently have. No breaks, melts, etc. I have a good supply of twin lock terminals and a crimper.

Hello, Refreshing the dash harness, upgrading headlights (adding relays, 12 awg wire). The connector to the headlight switch has seen better days, a little melty and mis-shapen. Been searching high and low (pun intended) for a replacement for this connector. The switch itself is part #1995096 - replacements are easily available. The connector not so much. Attached is a photo of what I am in

Frank, Rebuilding the carbs on the J-Side - '63 Rampside. Noticed today that I have two different floats. The carbs are 1963, but one had a later (smaller) float that had one pontoon that was holding fluid. I was going to try to repair it and realized it was a later style - so was not going to match the correct one. Thus, the request for the part. Haven't secured one yet, but con

Dave: Yes, ordered front springs as well. Went with the Moog 5758 for the front. Will check the ride height and determine if I want to cut an 1" or not. For shocks, went Gabriel 82099 on all 4 corners. The ShortSide looks fun and a little evil! How does it handle? Does it do wheelies? Robert: The original request for information was to find a comparable product and do a price comparis

Those NOS springs are cool, but a bit rich for my pocket. Was slammed at work today and didn't have a chance to call Clarks. I did order their "Light Duty" springs last night -- they shipped today, so will take measurements when they arrive. If it matters, shipping from Clarks to Los Angeles takes about a week. From experience I have learned to place an order no later than

Gee Matt, did I deserve to be spanked for that question? As Clark’s has gone home for the evening to enjoy dinner with their families, was looking for some info now before I placed my order while supporting a wonderful vendor. Oh, and for clarity, Page 140, item# 1662A. Jaeson

The new to me "J-Side" needs a good suspension re-do. Shocks and front springs on order, considering the Clarks Light Duty springs as others have. Curious if anybody has the specs on these? Height, # of coils, wire diameter. Thanks! Jaeson

Dave thank you for the encouragement. Read thru your build log. Wow! What an undertaking. So impressive. Hope to see Dainers Rampside in real life sometime. Lots to do - get home from work and ponder, list and tinker. Waiting for the weekend to come when I can spend extended time making things right and coming up with new questions and solutions.

Thanks to Phil Dally, the former PhilSide2 has now become (as Phil named it) the J-Side. Phil was nice enough to include delivery in the deal, pics attached. Will be updating my signature accordingly. The list of tasks (and Clarks, Cal Corvairs items) on this is growing, but as of now, a running driving truck. Phil included a grip-load of parts as well as a correct 80hp engine (sorely in need

Hello, Been lurking for a few years, have not posted in many. Wanted to reconnect and maybe add a little value. Thinking of adding a Rampside to keep my '65 company (still not driving - stuck in garage waiting for a new clutch, surrounded by "inheritance" boxes after Dad passed.) Thought, "hmmm, a Rampy would aid in moving some of this stuff!" So, have been search

I have to add thanks to Jeff as well! Was there this afternoon to get a new starter (picked up a few other goodies as well). What a great place for a Corvair nut! My wife named it the "Corvair Mecca". Jeff was really nice and helpful -- I'll be back again, he has gained another customer. Jaeson

Great info from all who posted! I really appreciate the various schematics and tech info. As to the cube (Bosch type) or Ford type relay -- thinking I'll give the cube type a try as am going to order a few online anyway to run headlight and heater blower motor relays as well. New body harness came in the mail today - already replaced the engine harness. Slowly creeping forward to updat

Since I am going to install a new starter - decided it best to add a relay (Ford type - SW3) as others have done with good results. Want to ask where have you mounted yours and why you feel it is the best location. Example: "right of the VR", or "back side of firewall, just above starter"... Your input will be a great help in figuring out where to place this rather than go
