I had same problem on the first vent window I did on my rampside. On the second one, I figured out the problem. If you look at the original runner channel where the rivets go; the area facing vent window has raised area. When I assemebled the 2nd vent window I installed an 1/8" thick waaher between the channel and vent window outer frame. Problem solved.

Process is called "vacuum metalizing" As stated, look in hemmings for folks that still do it. Years ago (many, many years ago) there was a place in Arizona that still did this.

Pinion seals as stated. Will have to drop the unipack and dissassemble diff. Inspect ring and pinion and bearings. If there has been any millage on that diff the ring and pinion gears are very likely damaged.

I never used a pipe. I used a bearing installer plate made specifcally for removing and installing the bearings on the axles with the help of a 40 ton press.

I bought a JBL extreme for my first trip the River Cities Corvair show in Sutter Creek three years ago. Put on the dash of the rampside. Lasted almost to the show. Charged it up again and used it on the way back. Lasted almost all the way home. Right at the one year mark, the battery would not fully charge or hold a charge for mor than hour. Stilll use it the garage and outside with the po

There usually dimples in the sheetmetal where ever a hole would be drilled, cut or punched if it has not been done already.

Cylinder lower baffles. The one with th hole is as Matt stated for the RH side with the down draft tube. The other is LH for all engines and RH for all engines without down draft tube. The other plates are the rear engine housing skid plates. The one with the large cut out is for 164 CI engines. The other is for the smaller displscement engines

I have 66 wood wheel button that I was going to use. But i found a dammage cushion grip wheel horn button in my collection of horn buttons. After looking at the two for a while i figured with a little moding i could get

A club member gifted me a wood wheel he said thst resqued years ago from a greenbrier in a wrecking yard. The wheel was attached by two screws to 65/66 Corvair wood wheel hub (non-tele). I had some wood wheel and cushion grip sport wheel partt flating around from other cars ive had and since i already have a nice one for the 65 Turno Corsa, i decided to install it on to obe of the FC"s I dont

Dumped fluid again and refilled. 80w90. Took for a good 20 mi freeway drive hitting about 70 mph (per phone GPS set to HUD mode on the dash) A little "sweat" on the diff top cover (but might be residue from my last clean up effort) Wipped down again the best I could with a rag and brake clean. Will have the owner drive it around for a week and we will check again for fluid venting. Will d

Richard. What is recomended then as far as the weight of the oil? Ive used 80 90 in the past with no boil over. As fas as contamination, ive dumped and replaced the fluid once already. I can do again with a different grade if needed.

Ok. Im at my witts end. Installed a rebuilt diff and trans for someone. Everything went in without a problem. However, the diff is blowing oil out the top vent. Usibg Sta Lube GL4 80-90 Took the trans down to verify that the gasket was installed correctly. No problem found. Checked all the passages for blockage. Not problem found. At the request of the owner reinstalled the original trans

Power tpp frames are indeed different from manual top frames Adding power parts to a manual top frame makes it work funny. It will go up a.d down but the first few inches comming iff tge header need a hand and when comming back down to the header it needs to be pulled. Else it will fold in on itself i the oposite direction it needs to go.
