Picked this rig up on one of my trips back to LA. P.O. said it had a really bad knock in the engine and he was done with it. Didnt want it, he wanted his garage space back. Hadnt had a chance to get to it till now. Put some 91 octane in it (really needs 103) a battey I borrowed from another air cooled project. Flipped the switches, pumped the gas and.. VROOOM!! Speaking of larry's Corvair.... Had a car on the lift once with a rebuilt converter.... Fired it up on the lift and within a few mins was pouring trans fluid out the bell housing. F/S: Old Stock 111 Brake Shoes. These shoes are at least 40 years old, new and never installed. 111's were standard on 1960 and 1961 and will git front or rear. Similar 189's except that have an extra thick reinforcement at the top of the shoe where it rides against the anchor pin of the backing plate and as such will not install on the rear of 62-64's (without modification

FYI... theres is supposed to be a plate that covers the "figure 8" spacer. It is sits in the slighty recessed area bordered by the edge of the formed vulcanized rubber. Dont use it without it or the "figure 8" spacer. Else it will cause the through bolts to shear over time.
