Forum: Corvair Center Forum 7 years ago ElkyBob Wow, that is way cool. Musta put a lot of work into that rig. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 7 years ago ElkyBob Good looking car, have to show that to my wife, she likes old studdies. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 7 years ago ElkyBob Pretty sure that is a Suburu, saw a couple of them at a show at Lemay's a year or so ago. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 7 years ago ElkyBob From another Vietnam Vet, sorry for your loss and God Bless you and your family. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 7 years ago ElkyBob Mine is an early, and has plastic rather than glass. For the first time, I put my top down last summer with the window left in place (zipped). Have not had the top up yet to see if it is okay or not. Not too worried about it because I plan on putting in a mustang glass which folds, if and when I have to replace it. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 7 years ago ElkyBob Nice car and congtrats. Gotta say tho you should consider yourself extremely lucky to drive that far in a "new to you" vair, in that kinda weather without any trouble whatsoever. Hopefully a sign of more good times to come. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 7 years ago ElkyBob Very nice Rampy, I can only say that if you try it and are not happy with the way it performs, give me a call and I'll be glad to take it off your hands. ggg Forum: Corvair Center Forum 7 years ago ElkyBob Sorry Phil, but you must have seen how the Mariners beat up on your Angels in the opener. Hoorah, Mariners all the way. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 7 years ago ElkyBob Got my 62 EFI started up for first time since about November. Back when we first installed the EFI, Ted Brown had us to stuff a couple pieces of rubber fuel hose down in the base of the TBI's to help get the idle squared away. After talking to Ted one day he said I should remove the hoses so I did. However, now the car idles at I guess around 3500 so I've got some work to do to get th Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 years ago ElkyBob Here's one I use on my 59 Elky 348, got about 6 of them off of ebay a couple years ago. It's a Baldwin C-18-A which replaced AC PF-141. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 years ago ElkyBob If you could get that for around $4000. you would be good. Too much left to do for the price he is asking. I would keep looking. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 years ago ElkyBob You said you have electronic ignition - question is it Pertronix? And if so, is it Pertronix II? If so, and in case you might have missed it in reading the forum, several of us have had trouble with the Pert II causing idle problems. As Steve suggested, swap it back to points and see if there is an improvement, you can always go to a Pert I later on. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 years ago ElkyBob Orney's main problem is that he is about the most sarcastic person ever. How could anyone not be negative to him? Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 years ago ElkyBob Sorry, altho interesting, the corvair is a 1:28. The others are kinda fun too. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 years ago ElkyBob 19. Corvair Camper Hope this works, copied it from another site.

Can't you put some Corvair parts on it and maybe tell everyone it is a corvair. Or maybe one of those Johnny Cash Cadillacs. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 years ago ElkyBob Does that kit come with a chicken?? I'd consider the chicken a "must have: Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 years ago ElkyBob Good to hear about Mike on the forum. I saw him and some of his "stuff" at the swap meet in Chehalis couple years ago. My ex-mechanic, Del Gaither used to go see Mike quite often up until he (Del) quit and moved to California. Always had good things to say about Mike. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 years ago ElkyBob I'd have to guess it is some of the nonwelder's that say no to rust of that nature. And, I would have to guess your phone probably got eaten by some of the rust. Looks like a good project, get er done. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 years ago ElkyBob Good job Pete, looks vairy good. And don't mind what all the naysayers say. It seems some of them can't remember whose car it is!!!~ You so what you want. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 years ago ElkyBob Way cool. I had a set of the 57 Turnpike Cruiser skirts on my 51 hardtop Ford Vickie, similar to "Kustom's". I sold the I swapped the Vickie to my brother-in-law for a 51 Cadillac de Ville and put the skirts on it. Beautiful. Sold the Caddie when I was drafted into the Army, never saw them or the cars again. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 years ago ElkyBob My wife got T-boned similar to the way you describe, the other driver admitted fault on the spot and this was in the police report. We have USAA insurance since 1968, the other driver had American Family. My ins company picked up the ball and ran with it all the way, our car was a 2005 Chrysler 300C with about 183,000 miles. Blue book was $6700. I never heard from other ins co., but mine sent Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 years ago ElkyBob Looks like you need to know also that each carb has a ceramic type fuel filter right where the fuel line screws onto the carb, take that big nut thing off and you will see a filter, Clark's has new ones and this could be part of your problem. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 years ago ElkyBob I still have one of those that you remove a spark plug and screw the device into the plug hole. Brand new, never been used, bought it off Ebay several years ago for around $50 I think. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 years ago ElkyBob Freeman, love that carpet - what was the source for that> Forum: Corvair Center Forum 8 years ago ElkyBob And it sold to a John Mallory for $250,000 with commission.
