If you can find a bunch of older cans, buy them, they went with a new style can that isn’t so great. But still a great bunch of products. Forum: Corvair Center Forum Tomorrow zarfnober Al Huston owned that car for a long time,,CCE member I recall, anyway that’s a 911 air box grafted onto a 140 air cleaner and legs. Saw itvup close at the CCE Orphan Picnic years ago. He started itvup for me, cold, and a turn of the key had it running, buttery smooth, instantly. He ended up selling the car at some point, nitvsure if he’s still with us, and I forget who owns it now. Nice car too. Forum: Corvair Center Forum Tomorrow zarfnober I’m waiting for the day when they drive one and attempt one of their burnouts. I th8nk I have last night recorded Phil, is it a “first aired May 30” episode? Forum: Corvair Center Forum 3 days ago zarfnober I use deoxit on the wire, and also on any original connector contacts, and if you have to solder after the deoxit, I use flux cleaner, it dries quickly, then you’re ready to solder. Deoxit is great stuff, spray a small amount on both halves of connector, and do the old in out and that’s usually enough to get the connection clean enough, otherwise ya gotta physically remove it after spraying.

It’s a great reminder to always do a good visual inspection, which I regularly do. But apparently I didn’t think a cold solder joint( iirc, I used a soldering gun, not a proper iron Forum: Corvair Center Forum 4 days ago zarfnober Bad connection at the connector from alt to regulator, an old soldering repair kind of frizzled loose at the brass terminal inside the connector. Probably why I bought a new one from Clarks last year. Maybe I should start paying attention to my little stash of parts I bought that aren’t installed yet.
The strange thing was I never touched the alt or connection, just had battery disconnected, o Forum: Corvair Center Forum 4 days ago zarfnober Thanks frank, I’ll check that next, and yes, there’s been some rodent activity recently, and they’re now former rodents. > Is a internally regulated alternator or not? We need to know what you have. You seem to not know what style you have. Is the plug on the alternator a square plug or a rectangular plug?
Square with parallel terminals, like on original alternator. Tapping on the regulator didn’t seem to do anything.
Everything o Forum: Corvair Center Forum 4 days ago zarfnober Thanks frank, and the terminals are parallel. I took the alternator to the store, tested good, but no additional voltage while running on the car, 11.9v with car on or off. Is a bad ground at the dash gonna prevent charging, that seems like quite a drain of voltage. I’ve even tried loosening that screw at the ground and re tightening it a couple times. We’ll see this weekend what happens, and it Forum: Corvair Center Forum 4 days ago zarfnober So, I pulled the dash in my Corsa to repaint the wrinkle paint, and after getting it back in, the gen fan light stays on, I removed the dash twice, and reinstall, light stays on, I was thinking it’s the ground strap from instrument panel. Hook my multimeter to alternator, voltage is same as with engine off @11.9Volts. So I take it to autozone, it checks out good and cranking 47 amps, it also says Forum: Corvair Center Forum 5 days ago zarfnober Nice work Nate, I’m assuming you sell these with a core charge? Forum: Corvair Center Forum 6 days ago zarfnober I don’t have a photo, but the Camaro spoiler, IMO, looks a lot better and probably works better. If you have a stock crossover, use the the 90degree bend going to the stock inlet of the turbo, and yes, use the 140 manifolds. Do your best to smooth out the ex flow as much as possible. If you have good fabrication skills, I’d up the inlet to 1-7/8”, but it’ll take some time to do thi Forum: Corvair Center Forum 14 days ago zarfnober I am going to try and make this event, it’ll be great to see Jon behind the wheel again. I’ve rebuilt a few Vair turbos, and while this is helpful for assembling, it completely misses the important parts; how one measures the end play on the compres Forum: Corvair Center Forum 22 days ago zarfnober FWIW, I wouldn’t consider any turbo motor regardless of heads without a Safeguard and water/meth injection, and that CB Blackbox sure makes sense too. With your F/B turbo you’re already a step ahead, and low end really isn’t bad at all, IMO., I’ve git a 3:08 gear in my stock 180, but running a Blackhawk TB with SDSEFI ecu and crank triggered ignition, and water/meth injection.
If you’ve alread Forum: Corvair Center Forum 24 days ago zarfnober Saw Dave’s car at a World Of Wheels show in Chicago years back, I’ve got a bunch of photos somewhere, exceptional car. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 26 days ago zarfnober joelsplace Wrote:

I’m pretty sure you can use one 17” and one 18”, or maybe it’s 2-17’s, but you’ll have to buy the frames too. Can’t recall which side gets the larger one, but I’ll probably look soon as I plan on getting my car back on the road nex Forum: Corvair Center Forum 26 days ago zarfnober joelsplace Wrote:

I’m pretty sure that no matter what you pay for wiper blades these days, they’re even basically junk for any new car, they just don’t last very long. Re: The 1962 Corvair Spyder was the FIRST production Turbocharged car, not the 1962 Olds Jetfire. “scrub rubber on takeoff for the benefit of the neighbors” Seriously? This must’ve been before they broke the spider gears Forum: Corvair Center Forum 5 weeks ago zarfnober I need to remove my 65 floor vents to install my new carpet. What is the putty/caulk used to seal them, and who has it? It’s been a long time since I’ve been in a body sho0 or worked in a parts department, and I forgot what it’s called. I went into autozone and got a funny look when I asked.
Thanks! Forum: Corvair Center Forum 5 weeks ago zarfnober Beautiful car, hope you go over the reserve.
And thank you for your service. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 5 weeks ago zarfnober 28. I can’t take it much longer in what was once a great state. On the plus side, they’re doing some much needed road work.
