THAT brings back memories of broken spider gears right there !! You must have got my old engine(s) too ? Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 years ago SSpeed66 Looks like it might be an Evening Orchid Monza ! Take a pic ofand post up the serial ## tag & the build tag, between the distributor & back of the car. That will tell a lot about the car Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 years ago SSpeed66 I would assume this Pontiac body is Acrylic, not Polycarbonate(Lexan)... Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 years ago SSpeed66 Anyone give me the size of the ball bearings in a steering box please ? Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 years ago SSpeed66 Alright, doesn't anyone else build stuff with their 2 hands anymore ? Once my car is on the road, I'll build a sportier air dam for it too, easy 15 minute swap. But here is mine= Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 years ago SSpeed66 Just picked up the annual Super Chevy Platinum issue, Doug Marion has done an article "CLASS OF 1963 GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY SALUTE".
In it, it showcases the 63 Rampy owned by Ed Stevenson, and Barb Stilo's 63 Monza 'vert
Great article, Doug has graced it's issues for over 3 decades now Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 years ago SSpeed66 I am currently saving up for a house purchase next year(Kootenay region of BC north of Spokane), therefore I am trying NOT to spend money. Hence the use of the drum brakes for now. I might just install my trusty old 402 BBC instead of building the 427, until I'm 'over the hump' Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 years ago SSpeed66 Yes, I'm currently working on getting the interior, door jambs, & insides of the bolt on pieces into primer & paint. But it's slow going as usual, now it is really cold & I do not have a well insulated or even drywalled shop. I might have to shut it down for awhile...
Yes Ryan, those are drums. I might use them initially, I can always upgrade anytime. Those brakes have Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 years ago SSpeed66 I'll agree, I do not like that shifter either, I've driven a couple drag cars with those.
Mine is a Mr Gasket(I think...) ratchet shifter. I used it in a previous car & has worked well for me. And you don't need 3 hands to operate it.
But I've always tried to use factory GM shifters if possible, I just make a new detent so you can't hit neutral. They have the be Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 years ago SSpeed66 It appears I did not get any pix of the pieces I painted with the black speed enamel... but next was installing the nylon bushings & sandblasting/buffing & painting every part, bolt, nut & washer for the susp. All bolts are low gloss black, washers are flat black, and all nuts are silver. Shocks are Gabriel Stryder adjustables. Coils are cut 1 1/2 coils, and painted grey-
All Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 years ago SSpeed66 Then a good 3 coat 'splashing' of red oxide primer & speed enamel on the main frame. I also 'pushed' primer into all corners & crevasses with a brush- Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 years ago SSpeed66 No Leon, I have not picked up the latest Itchy Bitchy calendar, are you in it ?
Terry, all primer & paint supplies I get from Cloverdale Paints(Canada only). The silver is a generic industrial colour...
OK, from here I jumped onto the front suspension, starting with repairing the lower strut rod mounts-
Welded in solid- Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 years ago SSpeed66 Since my last post I have sandblasted, epoxy primed & poly painted a bunch of small parts & pieces in silver/argent. I have also painted some red oxide primer & ordinary speed enamel. S here are some pix of all that-
Sandblasted-
All Primered-
Everything sanded & ready for polyurethane-

Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 years ago SSpeed66 I haven't seen a FC here in BC in probably 35 years...!!! Forum: Corvair Center Forum 9 years ago SSpeed66 If I were anywhere close, I'd be like a swarm of bees on it, I would make room !
