Has anyone had a problem contacting Clark's vis email? I have emailed them twice over the past few weeks about a problem and no one gotten back to me. I have used the 'clarks@corvair.com' address. I need to include pictures to illustrate the issue which makes trying to sort this out over the phone...complicated...

Sorry if I wasn't clear. On the back of the tach there are two spade connectors. Unmarked. One is for the switched 12vdc source, the other is for the wire (usually brown?) that goes back to the coil. I need to know the proper orientation for the two wires... Thanks

Need to find out which pin, from the back, is 12 volts and the coil wire. Found a couple of posts here but they seem to counterdict each other. Thanks.

New leak ???? started this morning. On the drivers side With the car standing. I can’t see where it’s coming From yet. Question, will the tank, if full, leak from the Rubber filler tube connector? If so will it only leak until the Level lowers? Or is my tank leaking? At a car show and can’t get under there very well to look.

Knowing this is a shot in the dark, this thread long went into hibernation, but I was wondering if the original poster ever figured out what the problem was..

There was a discussion regarding this problem from an earlier date that I can't seem to find. There was no resolution to it though. My tach will go up to, but not over 3,000rpm. Otherwise it works just fine. Is this 'always' a meter movement issue or can the electronics cause it? It's no easy project to get the tachometer out of the Spyder and I'd like to fix th

If you're running points, be sure you're checking for that 5 volts while the car is running. With the key on, but the motor not running, depending on points position, you will see either around 12vdc or zero!

This diagram may help. The tach sending wire hooks to the terminal on the coil that goes to the distributor. Sometimes the tach will 'stick' and can be 'fixed' by tapping in the glass...

Disconnect the sender wire at the tank, the gauge 'should' go to full. Grounding that wire 'should' cause the gauge to read empty... I've included a basic wiring diagram of the gauge/sender wiring... If it passes the test, your send may have a float issue, either stuck or possible has leaked and is full of gas...

So, I am sure you know this..but.... the 61 electrical manual has very good troubleshooting information... Have you checked the voltages at the battery when the dash light is dimly lit? Also when you ground the field winding? AND when you remove the grounding wire and the generator light remains lit. My gut feeling, based on your descriptions is that the regulator failed and toasted the

Pretty sure you can simply connect pin 2 to the heavy wire to the battery at the alternator as a test or a fix if that's where the problem is....

The next time it happens.... Can't you SAFELY reach in and jump out the solenoid by using a disposable wrench between the red lead from the battery and the contact that enters the starter....IF the starter runs, the solenoid is bad... if not the issue is internal to the starter...(or there is a problem in the wiring between the starter and the battery..) Note that obviously when doing

I'm curious.... Why would a high amp charger damage a 12 volt bulb? A decent charger shouldn't put out much more than 14.4 volts and it's a too high voltage applied to the bulb that could damage it. A 'high amp' rating refers to the chargers ability to supply current to the load. In other words if the charger is rated at 25 amps but the load (bulb) only requires 5 amps

The running gear is, as the seller tells us, a Corvair flat-six and Porsche suspension components. From the written article in the ad, t

I suspect your VHT-100 has an issue... According to the website it should initialize by going to 400° and then return to the actual temperature. The one on my Spyder does this. According to the website the unit has a one year warranty. It says to return the unit, along with a copy bill of sale to the retailer that sold to to you... I'm curious. Does the gauge still seem to operate nor
