I'm still trying to find used good or repairable a back-up switch for my 63 4-speed but even $50 seems a bit high for me but maybe I'm just being too cheap.

printed it yesterday in fact ;-) The only thing that really worries me is how hard it was to get restarted again after driving it for a bit on the highweay but hopefully that's no longer an issue after the carb balance...

Ok so I take it that 2 turns out on the screws is just where I want them? Why do some say out 2 turns while others say out 3 or more turns? But yes I'll leave the mixture screws alone Matt... GGG I havnt unhooked the linkage yet to test both carbs independantly to see if both pumps are working. Ok so tomorrow I'll be following your instructions Matt for balancing the carbs...I sure hope thi

I finally got my Corvair running fairly well... I installed new plugs and swapped the plug wires for ones I knew were good...I then gently seated the mixture screws and backed them both out 2 turns and it started right up...It runs a bit fast but at least its running fairly well...the timing seemed to be dead on so I took it for a drive at highway speeds a bit and no troubles...After turning i

I opened the box of A/C plugs I was going to use and found 4 of them were broken...I was finally able to get a set of NGK B5HS plugs ordered though and will be in tomorrow...hopefully I can get the carb issue sorted out so I can drive and enjoy this car before the weather changes keeping it garaged.

So my compression checks out ok? That's a relief...I figured it was the carbs that were the main problem...I do have another pair I could try but they need rebuilt first. I do have a couple gasket only sets so long as the accelerator pumps are ok I should be good togo...If I can't get these carbs balanced and adjusted right I'll try swapping them out, hopefully that takes care of my problems...I

the engine runs but not very well...all plugs were out but I forgot to block open the throttle...will that give me higher readings? Will there be much of a difference with the throttle blocked open? Also all 3 plugs on the left side were black and sooty while all 3 plugs on the right side looked fairly ok but were wet with gas. Any suggestions? Yeah I know they need ballanced yet too...

Well I did the compression check on my 80hp engine in my 63 this afternoon...The book calls for compression of 130 with an allowed variation of 20...here are my readings...please tell me my engine isn't junk...it sure can't be good. Is there any kind of magical thing I can do to raise my compression in the affected cylinders? Cyl 1 - 90 Cyl 2 - 100 Cyl 3 - 103 Cyl 4 - 95 Cyl 5 - 110 Cy

Yeah I printed off some stuff on your site just this morning Matt and plan to try your method of installing the dizzy from scratch, right down to it sparking as I turn the dist and stopping right there...you've always seemed to know your stuff so believe me, I'm listening...I'll report back what happens but I'm guessing my compression is just plain crap to begin with so the timing is probably the

I was trying to adjust the timing with my gun tonight and can't for the life of me see the nice bright white mark I made on the engine pully...no matter how far right or left I turn the dizzy, I still can't see the mark anywhere...At one point I could have sworn I saw the timing mark at the bottom side of the pully during a few flashes of the gun...what's up with that? Would having the alignment

I can't find a set of NGK B5HS plugs anywhere and getting some ordered in seems to be a problem with the places I checked locally...I have had a new set of A/C 46FF plugs that came with some parts for quite awhile but havn't seen those plugs anywhere in my search on here, just the 44F...Would the A/c 46FF plugs work for my 63 80HP or no and why? Also if I can use them, what should my gap be? M

the glove box lock is easily removed, the inner part has the code on it, the glovebox locks can easily be opened up to get the guts out where the code is...it should be the same as the ignition...
