Ive always used the lead and trailing shoe, but when i hand my Porterfield racing shoes made they recommended a full lining on both shoes? More Contact. On my Carbo Tech Racing shoe they offered me the same choice but i went with the lead and trailing. Cant say ive tried the full shoes so just passing on what was offered. Mike

Reverse rotation is the same firing order just goes in the opposite direction ??? Header tube size is determined by the size of the exhaust valve and port, that being said a bigger motor usually has bigger valves. Mike

With Teds FI, you wont have that nice gas smell in the morning in your garage, you might actually get decent fuel mileage and not have to drive it like an Old Lady. If your a Gear Head and have a nice tight engine (not worn out) go with Teds,Do it yourself. Parts are available and its proven. The set up i saw a few years ago at the workshop was excellent, fired right up on a cold morning a perfor

I have a set of the Offy logs I’ve modified, there’s not a left and right so the left side Carb will be 180 degrees from the right. Mine now have both Carb pads so the jets are to the rear and the floats pivot correctly. These raise the roof of the log to help the flow to the outer ports. There was a reason these were made,The Development work done by Bill Thomas some how over the years has be

My second set of heads have the flanges welded to the stock tubes so the headers fit both motors.

The Slant tube gains you very little. The stock 140 tube is more than enough. I only did the slant tube on my first set of heads because " every racer does it" We were able to get the stock tube to flow better than most slant tubes numbers ive seen. Headers are your friend. Reeves right now has the fastest Lap time around Road Atlanta with a 2.7,Webbers and stock 140 exhaust tubes, Heads done

An early trans I built for Russ Thulen had this issue going into third gear, after a few (many 100 ) miles the ring seated to the cone and it was/is fine. Since then ive been checking the contact with a little more concern :) I dont know Seth, I dont do enough of the earlys to recognize them.

Lapping the blocker rings to the cone is not an uncommon practice for this issue.A little blueing on even an GM ring will show how bad the contact can be. If the 3 slots on the ring are not not wide enough they will dead center the teeth of the gear and syncro causing a no shift, the ring must go from one side to the other on the up and down shift. Alot going on here but all can be corrected wit

If you lap the new rings to each cone and pay attention to the height of the ring on the cone the Clarks rings work fine.I like to see them sit .040 -.050 high though ive seen them work good with much less. Mike

Its a Good idea to pull the shock and spring out and compress the suspension to check for clearence with the upper control arm. Theres a few kits out there where you need to do some trimming. Mike

Ive done no cutting on the 64 Racer and very little on the V8 except for cooling and i skinned the doors and lids.Unless your roll cage is tied onto the A and B pillars (most cages miss that by mile) or your rules allow you to run tubing all the way to the back and front keep that unibody in tact. The Front bumper on a Late Model(and maybe an early) is a major structural component of the front

The Basset Inertia Advantage is a good choice if you want to run 15s, its the lightest steel wheel going and to me looks the best. Mike

Dave i used both Cidco and stock shafts with my 540 HP 406 SBC. Sell the Cidco shaft and look for a real good stock 66 shaft, you can use an early shaft too. The speedo gear just goes along for the ride, you do have to shorten the early shaft like the 65 but thats no big deal.. I have a New 64 Shaft I will give you if you like,Ill machine it the right size and put a speedo gear on it. ive neve
