Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jonathan McCreery For an all original unrestored car there sure are a lot of non original things on it. Plus who repaints and doesn't put the wheel well trim back on? Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jonathan McCreery I have 82-94 Yellow Koni's on the back of my white car and Dad has them on the back of his LS1 v8.
They work great and can be found for $199 a pair shipped.
Since they aren't "proper" I was only able to get 2nd fastest at last years national convention.
Lots of keyboard rangers on here, careful. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jonathan McCreery Anyone know what wheels those are? They look great Forum: Corvair Center Forum 2 years ago Jonathan McCreery I helped a friend do a Center mount on his 140. We used one of these (2 years ago) it works perfectly (silicone heating pad for 3d printer)
He used a 2 part Epoxy to bond it to the bottom of the plenum. Car is driven a ton and never an issue.
Its just run off a switched 12V on the harness with an inline fuse and a switch under the dash. Extra oil lines and fittings.. no thanks.. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 2 years ago Jonathan McCreery I know guys running these on Datsuns and 13B's.. no issues, use Weber factory parts without issue. around $180 Landed in US. The company is also looking at knocking off triples but the demand is small compared to the twins. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 2 years ago Jonathan McCreery Its not the fact its a 500 cu in caddy with a toro. I had a caddy with the smaller 425 and it was great. Its the value of 911's like that is very high right now and that one looks really clean. I have a 911 and a v8 vair. Everything has its place, would way rather have a Toro vair then a Toro 911. Vair is far better suited to the weight increase and probably handles quite a bit better g Forum: Corvair Center Forum 2 years ago Jonathan McCreery Hard to Tell is that an F22 or a D16?

Corvette guys act snobby until a Porsche guy comes around and Porsche guys act snobby until they meet a Ferrari guy. I actually find my friends with exotics have a far greater appreciation for a Corvair then vette guys, I'm sure there are more Forum: Corvair Center Forum 2 years ago Jonathan McCreery Having vast experience with c3-4-5-6 vettes I find it comical that corvette guys call corvair "junk" Corvettes don't have the greatest build quality. I find my friends in the Porsche world (I have a 911 as well) are far more appreciative of the corvair and its engineering.
before someone goes on some mis informed rant I spent 5 years as the Marketing Manager for GM protectio Forum: Corvair Center Forum 2 years ago Jonathan McCreery This is too nice to change a thing. Fantastic find Forum: Corvair Center Forum 2 years ago Jonathan McCreery I recently purchased a 110 that was converted (at a great cost) to a plane motor. I plan on keeping the long block but don't need the associated aircraft specific parts.
They include forsale
Fly Corvair Dual point billet distributor and ignition wires
Aluminum Top cover
Modified oil pump housing that has been extensively modified by Flycorvair with external o Forum: Corvair Center Forum 2 years ago Jonathan McCreery Awesome! Can't wait for someone to come on and say their car is faster - LOL Forum: Corvair Center Forum 2 years ago Jonathan McCreery ITs too bad these motors are so hard to find, I would love one in my Datsun 1200. Seeing that bellhousing makes it even easier.. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 2 years ago Jonathan McCreery Its probably a cable adjustment as it sounds like the travel of the cable isn't long enough to push the arm into 2nd gear position. Fiero and boxster/ cayman can have the same issues. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 2 years ago Jonathan McCreery The eastwood one is by far the best, the time it saves alone is worth it.

No idea why such a tight knit community condones this kind of thing. I own 3 businesses and if we treated customers like this we'd be done.
just Forum: Corvair Center Forum 3 years ago Jonathan McCreery With the subaru you need an adapter, you need to remove the AWD - etc. Corvair motors don't make enough power that it will have a significant impact as to which way the trans is running. Manufacturing has come so far since the 60's its not an issue..
the easy / cheap solution is a boxster 5spd.. Already a cable shifted tranny, 1000's out there..etc.. Lots of guys with turbo Forum: Corvair Center Forum 3 years ago Jonathan McCreery Not to hijack, but I have a set of S10 dropped spindles I would sell cheap just to get out of my garage. $100 for the set + Ship.. or prepay and I will bring to PA convention.
forsale Forum: Corvair Center Forum 3 years ago Jonathan McCreery Indy competition in you guessed it Indiana had some a while back. A guy on the fiero forum picked one up. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 3 years ago Jonathan McCreery There's a bunch of Hewlands out there with the old Northstar bolt pattern, could build a really slick car. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 3 years ago Jonathan McCreery Not sure as to why the issues with pulleys and clearance, perhaps its the pulley type. our 215 (now Craig) never had issues nor does the LS1. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 3 years ago Jonathan McCreery 215 gives the vair the most factory feel and best balance IMHO. While the motor itself is older design, you can get them up to 4.6 in Rover variant and in some cases 5.0L not sure if that was just in the TVR or range rover as well. I have a datsun 1200 I have been looking for a 215 for.. its a great motor. Forum: Corvair Center Forum |
