good news and bad news. good news is the problem is just the carburetors. I took it down to my local classic car mechanic and they figured it out in about an hour. The left carb is not spraying any fuel whatsoever. they also said the right one was "questionable", but I feel like that's more of a cash grab comment. Anyways I got my carbs fixed and the car runs perfect, for now. b

I had problems similar to this, evetualy I found out I just needed to rebuild my carbs because my carbs were actually being flooded. I would drive for 15 mins, and the car would stall, and the. downtime is similar to what you described. It also stopped flooding if you accelerated super slowly, but obviously that's not a good solution. If you haven't figured it out yet, I recommend a car

I opened up the uni-syc tool and it works great on the car now. I'll have the timing checked with someone more experienced, and better equipped in the near future. judging by what you said, the low acceleration might be an air leak, I rebuilt the carbs about a week ago and started hearing lots of air seepage in the left carb, but the noise went away when I adjusted the carbs. Either way, Ill

also, I think it was mentioned to me that power glide models have to have their carburetors adjusted while idle in drive, not neutral, can anyone confirm>?

I wanted to add that I was indeed suffocating my carbs, the unisync tool needed to be unscrewed about 2 turns, additionally I'd like to ask how big is the gap your unisync tools also I feel as if the timing on my engine is wrong is there an easy way to check this without a light gun tacometer?

I have a 60 coupe that I've been trying to get ready but I can't seem to get the carburetors to operate correctly. I've synchronized the linkages correctly, and I'll synchronize them again just in case, but the real problem start when I try to use my unisync tool. about 2 seconds after I place my unisync on one of my carbs the engine starts shaking like crazy and makes some pr

It doesn’t have an oil pressure switch. I will say that the oil filter mount plate assembly is from a later model, since the previous owner decided to install a LM alternator to replace the generator. I was running it in idle for a good half an hour.

Got it! Thanks for the advice! Oh, and one last thing. The oil is leaking into the skid plate from the left side, you can barely see it when you look down through the engine compartment but the source of the oil is definitely not on the right side of the engine it’s from somewhere Center left of the engine. The exact where the oil exact hole where it’s leaking from is also one of the two l

Bought a Corvair and recently rebuilt carburettors, changed the oil, oil filter, oil pan and gasket, but now the car is leaking oil every time it runs. It is only leaking form one of the two small holes under (what I believe is) the motor mount. The oil keeps leaking from one of those holes. The car leaked pretty inconsistently (sometime not even at all) before I did any work on it, but now it

Hey, just wanted to say that the problem has been resolved. an experienced Mechanic I knew drove it for a few seconds and told me the carburetors are getting flooded too easily, and recommended a carb rebuild. He also said the time was off. I managed to drive all the way to the shop by just making sure I accelerate super SUPER slowly. Just wanted to say thank you so much for all your help.

It is NOT the exact moment I come to a halt .I come to a complete stop, wait for my turn to go at the stopsign, I press down on the accelerator, and the car will get a little power from the engine (enough to move about 2 feet) before completely cutting out. the wait at the intersection is only a few seconds, about 10 seconds (it's a stop sign intersection in a suburban area) The transm

Hello, Ive been having problems with my Corvair I bought last week, I've replaced the battery, installed new headlights, cleaned and fixed horn, and done some very minimal exterior and interior cleaning. The Corvair is 1960 pg model. the previous owner had installed a lm alternator, and an electric fuel pump. I checked the distributor and points, and it doesn't look original, but it

I'll try this tomorrow, thank you for the suggestion I figured out the reason for the constant LH turn signal being on. The small wire that comes from the signal arm/lever and leads to the turn signal switch located further down the steering column does not respond to the signal arm. the signal-control-wire will move if I push it into each position manually (LH, RH, and no sign

put some wd 40 in them and gave them a good swing with a rubber hammer, making sure nothings loose or stuck inside Made a little progress with two problems I've been having. It all come down to the. steering wheel. Earlier today I tried to fix my turn signals and noticed the wire that runs through the turn signal switch on the steering column doesn't move when you move the turn

Thank you so much, I'll see if the wires are sending any power, I don't suppose you know which fuse in the fuse box to check for the back up lights?

I was having problems with my the two horns on my car. When I press the wheel there is an abrupt and sudden low "Donk" sound that comes from the horns, but nothing else that follows. Ive tried putting degreaser on the connections where the wires plug into the horn terminal, but no dice. There's no messed up or rotted wires in the system, so I wanna believe its the horns themselves.

Hello, I'm a college student in socal I recently bought a nice cave car and am having trouble figuring out why some lights work and some don't. When I turn on the car, the turn signals (front light and back red tail light)used for turning left, automatically turn on and don't turn off, no matter how much I move the turn signal arm on the steering column. when I brake, the two

Hello!! I found a wonderful 1960 Corvair coup but needed some help estimating a floor pan repair. I live in California, if that helps at all. I understand floor pan repair and replacement can be very pricy, but I can’t seem to find any estimates online any where. If anyone has any knowledge as to the cost of replacing floor pans, any help would be appreciated, thank you for reading!! Here a
