Hi All - I am looking to do a front disc conversion on my 65 Monza. I was wondering if anyone on the forum, or any Corvair vendors sold bearing hubs that had been turned down for a disc brake conversion? I know that all it takes is a brake lathe, but after a recent experience with O'Reillys turning my brake drums, I don't really want to trust them or some other part store to mac

Thank you all for your help and quick responses, this forum is awesome for that - I am definitely not used to it. Please see my responses below: Quotesteve c goodman That is an open hole into the rear of the engine where oil pressure is made. Are you coating the threads of that bolt with sealer? I don't think it is leaking through the bolt. I have been using anti-seize on the bolts, bu

Hi All - Sorry to revive a thread from the past, but I am still dealing with this same issue and can use some advice. Long story short, since buying my 65 Monza last summer, (I believe it has a 1964 110 HP engine), it has leaked oil from the Delcotron Adapter at the corner nearest to the oil cooler (see red circle on the attached photo). Please note that if the engine is indeed a 1964, it is

Thank you all for your responses! I was wanted to make sure that it wasn’t a more serious engine or tuning issue that caused the blow-out. I don’t mind replacing the muffler.

Hi All – I was driving home today on a 600-mile round trip that I took in my 1965 110 over the weekend, and noticed that the exhaust was really loud. I stopped at a rest stop and found that the bottom of the muffler had blown out. I don’t think that the muffler was rusted (at least externally) or had holes in it. Does anyone know what might have caused this? The car ran fine the whole trip run

Thank you all for your help. It turned out after all of that to be a grounding issue. On the replacement solid-state regulators, I thought I was grounding them by connecting the ground wire from the body of the car to the condenser terminal on the back of the regulator. Once I moved the ground wire to the top of the regulator body, everything magically started working again. Lesson learned!

Hi All – I am hoping that you might be able to help me diagnose a charging issue that I am having on my 65 Monza 110. With the stock Delco-Remy voltage regulator, the car is overcharging (16 to 17 V at idle). To address this I have tried the following: 1. Cleaned and checked grounds – No change 2. Replaced the voltage regulator 4-wire connector – No change 3. Replaced the voltage regulator w

Hi All - I recently installed a Corsa dash in my 65 Monza. The Corsa clock was not working when I got the dash, but I was able to get it to run on the bench after cleaning and lubricating it. When I installed the clock in the car, I placed an inline fuse on the power line from the fuse block to the clock. The clock will run for about 3 - 5 minutes or so in the car and then will blow the in

Thank you all for your input. I went ahead and cut 1/2 coil from each HD spring (all four corners) and put them on the car. The front of the car seems to be sitting crazy high. Is it worth taking another half coil (or more) off of the front springs? I want the car to drive well and be functional, but I'm not a fan of how high the nose is sitting. I'd really like a setup where the

Hi All - I recently installed Clark's HD front springs on my 1965 Monza thinking that would lower the ride height. Instead, it seems to have raised it - the right front is higher by 1 inch, and the left front is higher by 0.5 inch. I just now realized that I forgot to leave the sway bar end links loose until the car was back on the ground (I'll loosen those and retighten). Is the

Thank you, Mike and Wagon Master for your advice. Since I am running 10% ethanol fuel and don't have a PEV, I'll try the 53s to start.

Hi All - I'm in the process of rebuilding the carbs on my 1965 Monza 110, and noticed that the main jet sizes are different between the two carbs. One carb has a 51 jet, while the other has a 53. I am assuming that these should both be running the same main jet size, correct? Interestingly after going through Bob Helt's book, I was able to identify both carbs as 1964 models (my car

Hi All, I took the car on a long drive yesterday and got the oil up to temp. Sure enough with the oil hot, it was pretty easy to see the leak coming from the front left corner of the adapter (alternator mount side). Tonight I took the adapter off and smoothed the mating surface using a sharpie and the plate-glass method described in this thread. I was pretty surprised at how warped/not flat

QuoteMattNall Oil pressure switch is a common leak! Welcome to the CCF! Thank you for the welcome! Everyone here seems to be super positive and helpful, unlike some other car communities/forums that I've belonged to. Also, I forgot to mention in my original post that I have replaced the oil pressure switch. Quotejoelsplace One of the surfaces may be warped. You'll probably need

Hi All - Since I picked up my Corvair this past summer, it has consistently leaked oil at the interface between the oil filter adaptor and the engine. I've replaced the gasket three times (using Clark's gaskets) since September. Each time that I've replaced the gasket I've ensured that the mating surfaces are clean and that the bolts are torqued to the spec in the shop manual.

Thank you all for your help, and for confirming that what I'd read about the 1965 3-speed shifter is true. Is anyone here running a 3-speed shifter on their 4-speed car? If so, I'm curious what your thoughts/impressions are.
