Upgraded the air cleaner to this Chevy 14” round air cleaner, sounds a little nicer, haven’t drove it enough to feel a big difference but it does look a little more shiny!

1966 Corvair Monza Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jgarcia2630 Replaced the single master cylinder on my '66 Monza with a Clarks dual master cylinder. Went on pretty smooth, trickiest part was bending the rear brake line thru the new hole in the trunk wall. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jgarcia2630 Yeah Scott I'll take that info from you if you can find it, I'd appreciate it! Mine is still working but the head is rattling a bit. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jgarcia2630 Yeah it's the remote control mirror, I saw that Clarks has a remote control reproduction but it doesn't look the same the bracket arm is thinner and back of the mirror head has a different styling.
Yeah Rex, I figured they were pretty rare cuz I haven't seen another one like it at all. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jgarcia2630 Also searched other Chevy models of the era and found nothing, could this have been a dealer add on being the mechanical option? Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jgarcia2630 Hi everyone,
My '66 Monza came with a mechanical driver side mirror, and wondering if anyone knows if there's a name to this style of mirror or part number? Haven't been able to find another like it online nor at any parts store like Clarks. Will post pic below.
Thanks Zeus! Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jgarcia2630 Yeah, I discovered an oil leak and oil levels were getting low. I still need to trouble shoot the leak, think it's the oil cooler seals. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jgarcia2630 Hi everyone,
Does anyone know of a Corvair or classic car mechanic in the Chicagoland area or near by? I know that Larry from the Vair shop in Frankfort IL is retired now. Trying to have someone take care of a few oil leaks, I don't have the time right now and would like to get it fixed sooner rather than later.
Thanks, Zeus! Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jgarcia2630 Hi everyone,
I think I have a slow idle setting and need to tune it, I bought a meter to check the RPMs. Ok, (dumb question of the day, I'm new to this) where do I attach the meter to?? Is there pics of this process? Tried looking on FAQs but couldn't find it.
Thanks, Zeus! Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jgarcia2630 Yeah the oil and filter were changed not that long ago 250 miles... Checked the oil and it doesn't seem thinned out with fuel nor does it smell like it. I'm guessing that most likely it's the carbs that aren't sync and idle is too slow. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jgarcia2630 The guy that I bought it from, had just replaced the fuel pump... Wondering if it was maybe installed wrong? He also mentioned that the new pump was to tolerate ethanol fuel. Maybe this is causing the issue. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jgarcia2630 Oh ok, thanks for the info I'll gonna remove it and check it out... I'm out of Chicago. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jgarcia2630 By oil cooler cover, are you guys talking about that side plate cover on the oil cooler? Sorry guys I'm new to this and need as much info as I can get! Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jgarcia2630 Oh ok, I'll take a look on Amazon for that sync... My dash only has a MPH gauge and fuel gauge, what would be the best way to check the RPM's? Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jgarcia2630 Hi everyone,
Took my 66 Monza out on the highway yesterday for about an hour and when I got off the highway, the temp/press light began to flicker when I came to a stop at a red light and was idling. Any ideas of what it could be? For a second there, it felt like it wanted to stall on me.
Thanks,
Zeus Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jgarcia2630 Yeah the car is almost fully stock except for the muffler that was swapped out for some resonators. I'm planning on rebuilding the suspension with a Clarks kit that I found, and redue the interior. The engine and carburetors were rebuilt at one point and seems to be running well. Other than cosmetic, the car runs smooth. I didn't think installing Vette parts would be frowned upon, b Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jgarcia2630 Yeah, those bolt on replicas are the ones I had seen and was interested in. I don't mind putting low profile tires on them, was more worried about the bolt pattern and the type of adapter that I would need. Going to contact the manufacturer and ask what I need to make it happen, I think it'll look good. Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jgarcia2630 This is my new addition, can't wait to start working on it. Any advice is gladly welcome! Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jgarcia2630 Thanks for the welcome, I'm located in Chicago and recently came upon the car in Wisconsin. I got into Corvairs a couple of years back and came across this one and decided to join the club and buy one.
I appreciate the info, I'm assuming that as long as I find the right hub adapter than I should be fine with that type of wheel. I'm wondering why there isn't that many peop Forum: Corvair Center Forum 1 year ago Jgarcia2630 Hi, I'm the new owner of a '66 Corvair Monza coupe and was wondering if anyone knows if C2 knockoff wheels like the ones in the pic below, fit a Corvair? And if they're examples of them out there.
Thanks,
