Sorry to hear about your brush with the fires! I am interested in a cradle once you get back on your feet... or back in your car! Thanks.

The torsional stiffness of the bar is really a function of its diameter, not whether its solid or hollow, so while it may not break, since it is solid, it will be in effect softer... especially at that point of reduced diameter. If used hard (say running a rally) it could break, at the point of heavy corrosion. The pits and holes create stress risers as well. Anti roll bars on competition/perform

Thanks 66vairman. I was contemplating doing a zinc plate before conversion for just the durability issue you mentioned. I have a local plater that can do the steel in silver and yellow but can't do the carb tops. The carb tops and bodies have been glass bead blasted to remove the splotchiness from carb cleaner dip soaking in the past. corventure Dave sent me some nice pics of NOS carbs s

Thank you Dave, PM sent. Thanks Brizo, yea it does seem they vary from pics I've seen and conversations I've had. Bodies are lighter than tops from what I understand to be due the material differences in them... more zinc in top, more aly in the body. I'll be doing a zinc chromate treatment to them. I was primarily trying to nail down what steel parts were yellow zinc and what w

I am getting ready to send a bunch of parts to plate and was hoping to match what may have been on the Fitch Sprint I'm working in 66. I have seen various color combinations, whether online or in manuals... though most of the manuals in b&w. Are most steel parts on the carbs silver zinc plated? Are the throttle arms and fuel filter fitting supposed to be yellow zinc? Choke arms? Link

Thanks, looks like I need an adapter ring that fits in and mates to the recess in the Lucas reflector and provides the locator base for H1 style bulb seat. The Hella has a snap wire retainer for the bulb but a plate similar to the original phenolic(?) Lucas bulb holder could be used with a different size/profile center cutout and minus conductors of course. Another option would be to pry a Hella

A friend passed along a link to a NOS Lucas Flamethrower that I then purchased to use as a LH high beam for a 1966 Fitch Sprint that I am working on. The car now has Hella H1 headlights with LED fanless bulbs that fit the H1 receptacle in the Hellas. The Flamethrower uses a conventional bulb of course so I am looking for an adapter to fit the H1 style bulb into the Lucas. Has anyone done this or

Sure, I'll get that number. I'm trying to locate a copy of Bob Helt's Rochester book, still sold by Seth Emerson? Anyone have a copy? Also has anyone documented F and R spring rates available from Fitch? Stock 66 Corsa? Maybe as simple as coil count, free length and wire diameter for the options? Progressive rate of the Aeon bump rubber? Thanks.

Wow! Very interesting project and your goal is outstanding! Almost bought an MGC GT when I was in high school (got a Karmann Ghia instead) and its one of those "one that got away" cars. Have fun!

The spinners resemble the latter photo. Was "Hands" cast into the wheel somewhere? I see "Patent Pending" "SRC 1300" "5.50 X 1300" and "Los Angeles California" on inside.

I looked through the list and the car does have these items Hands wheels Late 64 - thru 67 (may be reproduction, no "Hands" but do have Los Angeles California cast in) Replace factory tires (Vredestein Sprint Classic) Welded/shortened steering arms Metallic brake pads High beam headlight flasher Quick shift kit Individual free flowing air cleaners (added after Dave's purc

Rick, I understand, strange time for all. You advised: "To answer your 4 primary question, yes early Sprints did, but once the 65 Corsa came out John stayed with the factory secondaries.I would recommend that Dave stay with the 2 primary and 2 secondary setup." Dave thought that at one time this car did have the 4 primary setup but not sure. Dave was interested in the rotated c

Ihe current owner, Dave Swartz, confirmed that this was indeed Gerard Lopez's car. it was sold to Scott Good, Dave bought from him. Dave had at least a couple Corvairs years ago and is excited to own this car. The car was very nice when he bought it, Dave wants to attend to the items that need maintenance after its use since restoration and make sure it performs as it should. I'm happy

Rick, Would you know if Fitch modified cars sometimes had 4 primary carbs rather than primary/secondaries as this car has? The owner mentioned going to the 4 primary setup but I was not sure if it was a performance gain or would hurt drivability. Are there jetting or venturi size changes required when doing this? I don't want to possibly over-carb at the bottom end. I now a linkage chang

Rick, I'll have to ask the owner who he bought it from, he's had it about 6 months or so. I also need to make sure he is OK with naming him... probably yes but I should ask. I took a few more shots, trying to resize so they will post from my Google Drive account. I also need to ask him for a detailed history of the car. The owner's manual in the car said it was originall

I am working on a beautiful 1968 Fitch Sprint for a good friend.I have worked on his other cars in the past including Porsche 914-6 3.2 liter he owned... which was quite a car but it felt like it wanted to kill you when you got behind the wheel, or have you kill yourself rather. The Fitch is more subdued of course but still lots of fun and doesn't test your will to live. We do want to get it
