No, I don't take offense at all. I have been around the old car game since I was 14. So its a hobby for me. The main challenge is the cost of paint and body is so high now, you dont want to put on a funky part next to that. Thats the bummer and it drives up the cost for all of us. I want to put together a car the corvair community is proud of and reflects the way the car looked when new. Thi

Ha! I plan to drive it - but mine are too pitted to put back on with a new paint job. I had all the stainless around the top and front pillars polished - so they look amazing. Mine just look really rough next to them. The cost of re-chome / finishing these is HIGH! I figure if I am going this far on paint and body I should get as many steps right as possible. So I find myself looking for lots

Hello I am looking for a LF fender. I sent an email as well. I live up in Napa so I can drive down to Reseda to pick it up so there are no shipping or waiting issues. Also, if the doors are good I may take them if they are straight. I am restoring a 65 Turbo Conv and need a few parts. Thanks Bruce 707 287 3027

Restoring my 1965 Turbo Conv and I am looking for some saddle parts: Dashboard Pad - I know I can get clarks but if someone has NOS or perfect used that would be preferred. The Clarks pads are very thick. Saddle kick panels for Conv. again - tough to find not repainted excellent condition. The rest will come from Clarks. Thanks - Bruce

I think that in general the price paradigm for a nice Corvair has shifted. Classic car prices have been very strong throughout the pandemic and have kept rising. Prices go up and down with the economy so things can always change. $25k to a buyer today vs. a buyer in the market 10-20 years ago is a really low figure for a nice car. It all revolves around economics, interest, and the price of other

I think 28-30k would be a good range. You gotta laugh at the clock fires and the tremendous oil leaks that brought all these "Corvair folks" to their knees. The story telling around Corvairs is always good for a laugh. I hear it at every car show. BAT is a great forum for the myths to come out of the woodwork. Fascinating.

Thanks Jim, I have the tube and new clamps. My question revolves around the lower metal tube that seats into the passenger side head. My tube there is somewhat loose. I am wondering how others have sealed that junction. This sits below your two clamps and rubber hose..... Thanks Bruce

I am hoping someone can direct me on sealing the lower metal drain tube to the head to make sure it does not leak. I am restoring a 65 Turbo and I am installing the drain tube to the passenger side head and it is not that snug. It fits well but is easily pulled up and pushed down or turned. I wondered if there is a sealant or process someone recommends for this part that will prevent future l

By the time the Turbo was built 04C - it was 697 and #21712. So they were keeping busy building Corvairs in LA although only about 230 or so were Turbo Convertibles.

Here is a picture There is no rust, a few bumps and dings. I also have a 65 Turbo from the LA factory as well - #697 built 04C. The data plate on this car is on the right side of the rear rail. Like every other 65 I have seen. As for build peculiarities on #50 I would say there are more gaps in the panels with less body sealer used.

Matt, I was recently up in OR and had the chance to meet with Duane and saw the Pilot Car he is preparing to restore. Those seem to be loaded up with options to determine how they would go down the line with the assembly process. The car never left SoCal until I brought it to Napa.

This past year I purchased a 1965 Corsa 140 Convertible. Regal Red, red interior, white power top, rear antennae. Turns out the data plate is on the left side of the rear rail and is the 50th car built that year. I wondered if there are others out there like this or if this is one of the earlier produced survivors. I cannot imagine there were many Corsas made in LA in 1965 and I wonder if this

Looking for NOS bezels for 1965 restoration project. The car is mid-year LA build. I am not sure - but I don't think they had the drainage dimples. I will take either if it is a matching set. Thanks - Bruce needpart

I have recently acquired a 1965 LA build Corsa 180 Conv here in the bay area from the family who has owned it since new. The car is solid but needs a LR fender and should have the rear panel replaced at the same time. Wondering if anyone can connect me with someone who has the parts! This is a rare car and we plan to restore it to factory original specs. Thanks All - Bruce needpart
