Mel,

I don't blame you. If there's no market or you only get abused by cheapskates then why continue to store them at your expense. The more Corvair parts that get scrapped means those remaining may go up in value.

Mel: I agree with getting rid of what you don't need. Too late in life to store for anyone. I am cleaning out my bins also. I take stuff to the meets a few times. If no buyers, then some pieces get shuffled off to the trash and recycle bins. So far I gained 4 empty bins since Helen. Probably another one or 2 when I go through the stuff I took to Maggie Valley.

The worst part I am here in the states and shipping is much easier.

Looks like those highly modified heads will be aluminum scrap shortly also. Though I will have to bang the seats out. That ought to be fun. Keeping the new valves for my cars though.

Keep cleaning, Mel. When something comes up that we discarded, then we can say "dang we had those, but no one wanted it when we offered them up."

Oh yes. I have a set of 6 buttons for the 68 also. With retainers. They took their first trip to a meet along with buttons for the 65 and 66. One more trip and I'll start glueing them on my toolbox. Might be an idea to use yours for the same thing.

Mel:

I had no bites on the Buttons I posted for sale either. Guess they will be buying from CC or CR at higher prices. They will look good on the tool box. Like diamonds all over it.

You are right Mel. I am also slimming down on stuff I have stored as much as possible. That means everything. If I don't have a use for something in next year or so, sell it, donate it to charity (if they will take it) or send it to trash/recycle yard. People who don't want to buy an item but complain when it is donated to charity / trashed are not in line to get any of the items. I put items out for sale with a number. If anyone wants to try me for a lower price, all they have to do is PM their offer. I might say yes or no. Can't hurt to try, but take it away for free is not going to get it when I have a price on it.

Good luck Mel on your clean out project.

Years ago, there was a 'Pay it Forward' type of thread here where where something couldn't be sold, it would be offered up for free! (Plus shipping). Most people would barter with others, (Via PM) iffin the Receiver had something that the person offering needed. Swap, Barter. Couldn't find the thread but, I do believe, Vairchet started it. Or was instrumental in the idea...

Maybe Should start another thread for "I have this" "What do you have?"

Tried searching and couldn't find the original... thumbs up

Here is the pay it forward trade discussion.

Don't see it working to move big heavy items like wheels, differential and bumpers. 9 of my 13 inch wheels are Chinese steel now. I did keep 8 best ones, just in case. But they will only take one trips next year to see if anyone needs them. Then ?? Bumpers are hanging around long enough to remove brackets. Though they may be good daily drivers, no one will buy them due to shipping issues. Differentials. My friend Rick has 65 cars so he will get them. He has a 66 transaxle, I will get in trade.

Back to Mel's sale. His price is very reasonable. Someone with a 68 or 69 out to grab them.

Well Al, Just get over yourself. Not talking engines, differentials, BIG items.
Just saying, for smaller items, why not?

I don't remember that as being a "Pay it forward discussion" as you stated.

Are you also privy to others PM's?grinning smiley

Sorry. I forgot to paste in the link.

I read the last 2 posts. Seems like the Pay It Forward posters have the same issue with moving parts to other people.

No one needs or wants the parts.
