OT - Chevy SOHC Big Block Heads at auction
Posted by: jimc ()

Hemmings is running a story by Daniel Strohl concerning a pair of big block SOHC Chevy aluminum heads, both right hand heads, partially machined that were purchased at an auction.

The owner of these heads was Jack Conely, known as the Brighton Bandit, he is said to have a special relationship with Chevy R&D and this auction contained many other Chevy parts. These heads which are dated Jan. 11, 1966 and were said to look almost identical to the heads in a rare GM photo of an experimental chain-driven single overhead-camshaft 427-cu.in. Mark IV big-block engine.

Per the story;
"Racer Jack Conely might have been best known for the “maxi-mouse” small-block Chevrolet engines punched out to big-block proportions, but squirreled away among his stash of racing parts were two prototype overhead-camshaft Chevrolet big-block heads that bring up more questions than they answer."

See link;

Wouldn't it be interesting if a pair of Corvair SOHC heads or molds were among the many other parts!

Interesting article.
I guess if we are going to dream, we might as well dream BIG ! ! !
If you get some Vair SOCH heads, you had better have a lot of other parts too
Is there ANY parts that are interchangeable with the experimental OHC engine?
