() Date: October 07, 2018 10:00PM Guy overheard me saying I had over 40 Flourescent tubes that I got for 50 cents each.... Asked if I'd sell to him at $0.75.... he's lighting a new pole barn with used fixtures... So I bought a pack of 10 18 watt 6000k Direct LED's! for $35 / Walmart.com This afternoon I needed to install them just 2 out of my 7 fixtures had tubes! What a hassle... put the lights in 1997 newer style with transformers in each end. Had to dismantle fixtures 100% 1st one took almost an hour! Down to 12 minutes ea. on the last 4... () Date: October 07, 2018 10:03PM LED fluorescent replacements are GREAT! We are slowly replacing with them as our lights burn out in the shop at work. . -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- WA. state, 1 mile south of the Canadian border, I am not at the end of the world, but you can see it from here. () Date: October 08, 2018 06:10AM I need a guy like that around here to buy me out! I have over 100 48" T8 bulbs still sealed in the OEM boxes. Genuine GE bulbs made in Canada.I hate to toss all that aside to go full LED. As long as my ballasts keep working I'm using T8's. () Date: October 09, 2018 08:38AM In Kalyphornya an 8ft T12 fluorescent tube costs more to dispose of than the inflated new tube cost. ![]() We have been progressively switching them out with T12 and T8 LED tubes for over a year now. The advantages of LED is they can be thrown in the dumpster when they fail and we no longer have to deal with the crappy off shore made ballasts that fail nearly as often as the fluorescent tubes burn out. Just leave the old ballast in the fixture and use the internal wiring to bypass it and power the LED. Now we'll see how long these also off shore made LED's last! () Date: October 09, 2018 08:43AM They'll eventually want you to recycle the LEDs as Ewaste. Don Marlowe 66 Monza 2Dr 140/pg 64 Spyder convertible now, 110/pg ![]() Re: OT: almost getting paid to convert my Shop to LED's ??? Posted by:

() Date: October 09, 2018 10:21AM Here in Bergen County NJ at their Hazardous Waste days they take the florescents no charge. I've got a lot of them to take this Sunday along with miscellaneous cans of nasty stuff and some used motor oil. We also have electronic recycling days. The thinking is if you charge to get rid of these things people will just dump them somewhere--better for the county to take them. Long lines of people taking advantage of this and its better all around. David Malcolm 1969 Monza PG Coupe NJ near the Meadowlands Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum. |
