() Date: October 09, 2018 08:36PM Speaking of return lines - the return has to regulate the pressure so what are the filters set to? Why don't they compensate for the replacement pumps that put out too much pressure? Re: turbo return fuel line connector Posted by:
MattNall
() Date: October 09, 2018 08:45PM Factory return line is only 3/16" ID. The factory pump overcomes that leak easily.. The retun line on a Holley style regulator is to prevent "Dead head" pressure spikes and allows the regulator to operate in a narrow Hysteresus. [ range of output variations]. () Date: October 11, 2018 08:32PM I can tell you what a friend of mine did on his 64 Spyder. ( a car I later bought from him ) He replaced that piece you have pictured with a plain piece of hose in the vent line. Than he drilled a hole in the gas tank filler tube and soldered in a 1" long steel tube to accommodate the return line. He did this because that "T" always had gas settled in it so the gas tank wouldn't vent properly when you were trying to fill it. The modification worked great, The returning gas whet back into the filler tube instead of plugging the vent tube As I recall he had to pull the gas tank out to get the filler tube out. () Date: January 29, 2019 05:38AM I just got one from Califoria Corvairs. It wasn't cheap but should work nicely. My time saved not searching for something that will work is something I don't always think about. I'm not a big fan of the barbed fittings and apparently they changed from that since the 3 year old picture above. I was pleasantly surprised with how fast I got the shipment via USPS Priority. I had previously shied away from buying parts out west due to long lead times. Either someone else wasn't shipping things right away or USPS has gotten better. () Date: January 29, 2019 05:48AM BTW, if you look at the calf corvair picture it is a picture of a metal tube with a soldered joint in the top dipped in black paint it is not rubber. I understand that they are shipping out a brass one now. -Tom ![]() 63' Monza Spyder Convertable (in process) MY Build Thread 65' Monza MY Build Thread 73' NovaSS 454 Big block 86' BMW 325es 98' Dodge 2500 12v Cummins Diesel with 1200 lb torque! 98' VW Jetta TDI, for daughter 01' Audi Allroad Stage 3 twin turbo NFCC Grand Island, NY Attachments: ![]() Re: turbo return fuel line connector Posted by:

() Date: January 29, 2019 07:06AM This is the one I got yesterday. I prefer it over a brass barbed. A little pricey at $24 but worth it if I don't have to go after it again. A rubber one is $16. I don't understand how an electric fuel pump near the tank would make the return loop unnecessary. I'm installing an Airtex E8016S electric pump in a 63 that doesn't have the return installed and it's not flooding with the leaky mechanical pump. I just figured the return was a good idea with vapor lock and all but I'm certainly not looking forward to going after the Tee. Actually so far I'm just assuming that's why the system was disconnected and I have no other reason to remove the gas tank and could easily talk myself out of it. () Date: January 31, 2019 04:34PM The return line was mostly for heat soak after the engine was off. The fuel pump would not let fuel return and the line pressure built up. It does also help keep the fuel cooler while running, but doesn't lower the pressure much. () Date: January 31, 2019 04:49PM My method with my 62 spyder which had no return line from the factory is simply turn electric pump off 20-30 seconds before shutting engine off hot. Most of the turbo cars around here I block return line and owner uses toggle switch in same manner. best wishes, Steve Rear Engine Spec. Inc.
