Quick steering box. Does anyone have comparison pictures of what is different inside the box?

I have in my possession what I believe is a quick box that is disassembled. I do not have any other steering boxes to compare the unique items to.
Does anyone have any detailed pictures or can tell me how to identify the what is unique? TIA.

I can describe what you are after.

If you look at the worm gear there will be an almost 1/4" flat between the grooves.

A standard box has really small flats not quite to a sharp edge.
Here is a standard gear.

OK, let's see if this works.

Here is a direct comparison of the std and quick worm gear.

Ken, did you ever get a chance to talk to American Machine & Gear Works re: making the quick steering internals? I remember you were looking into doing something like that a while back.

I have looked into it and just contacted them again. Tried to get someone local to me but apparently they are not interested.

The stamped QSB ball guides might be the most difficult components to make, beside the ball nut.

Is the pitman shaft different also? Ie the gear on the shaft and ball nut or are those the same as std?

When examining a box off the car, how many turns are there of the pitman shaft on a QB compared to a standard box when turning the input?

The pitman shaft only turns 90 degrees no matter what box you have.

Okay I said that backwards, sorry. How many turns of the input to impart said 90 degree turn in output?

I guess I was looking for the answer to “how do you tell if you have a quick box if the box is removed from the vehicle?”.
