Clutch cable story 04 - LM cable question. Opinons wanted.
Posted by: rlp11 ()

Hi All

This is a questions for LM owners. The clutch cable for LM cable is a 3/32" 7x7 plastic coated to 1/8". The 3/32" cable uses very small wire and the coating is to reduce the abrasion wear on the cable. So with all the breaking cables, could it be that the cable is too small.

So my questions are,
1. When I make the LM cable should I use the 3/32" coated cable or go to 1/8" non coated? My cable will be Stainless Steel.
2. What is the diameter of the 1969 cable retaining pin at the pedal cross shaft end?

Thanks in advance.

I will try to measure the pin tonight as long as i don't forget. I have a brand new one sitting on the work bench.

Craig

Can you send me a picture of the Heim joint from the cable end? Email it to rlparent@yahoo.com.

Steve offers: Roger how about 1/8" dia wire rope plus
the coating. It looks to me as if the pulley width
and depth would accommodate that small additional
diameter. Just my thoughts of course. good luck
