I almost bought one of those a few days ago. I already have the larger one. The magnet is super strong and it is very bright. 2 gripes battery doesn't last all that long about 3 hours and it won't fold in half.

A have a larger rechargeable that I paid a lot more for, so this is just a backup that will fit in tight spaces. Since I have several free 30 packs HF batteries that I got for free with coupon, so its like HF perpetual motion.

Here's what one of those light sticks looked like more than 10 years ago. It was built in the USA, intentionally did not use disposable batteries that would leak and add to landfill waste. It used special Cree straw-hat LEDs with a 5000K color-temp (which ten years ago were not that common and expensive). It had a Neodymium grade N52 magnet hidden under the top hook so you could use either the hook or the magnet to fix it to the work area.

The clear poly-carbonate tube used optical grade Bayer resins and was extruded in the USA. You could drive over this light stick with a car and not damage it. Even the label printing, packaging and assembly work were all done in the US. Did I mention you could use it underwater and it came with a free wall adapter too?

At $19.95, hardly any sold because you could buy a far inferior product that would fail in less than a year at Walmart for only $14.95. Plenty of retailers wanted these on their shelves but they would pay no more than what they paid for the crap they were already getting from China. We sold less than 1000 of them and the rest are in a warehouse gathering dust.

Rant off. sad smiley

No. Once the sales flattened out we stopped production.

We gave away the remaining assembled units as promotional items at trade shows over the last 5 years. What we have left here is several thousand partially built 12V LED strips with 16' cords and a lighter plug. They make great custom license plate light bars, engine compartment light strips or under dash lighting accents but even those are a hard sell on eBay these days unless you can sell them in large lots.

I'll have some of the partial LED assemblies for sale at the TOSS in Palm Springs next month.

If I can find one that is fully assembled, I'll PM you.

For the occasional hobby stuff I found LED lamps that are rechargeable always seem to go dead right in the middle of a job - grrrrr.

I finally found a plug in LED lamp with a cord to replace my old flourescent light. Has magnet - much brighter than old trouble light.

I don’t buy any flashlights that aren’t rechargeable. I have a bit of an obsession with inexpensive flashlights. My current favorite is this one

They can be had for a few bucks more from US stock and are available on Amazon too. NAPA has them in their Carlyle brand for about 7x the price. I’ve seen them in SABRE brand for similar price to NAPA.

I use a flashlight for a good part of my day and I’d rather have 10 10$ flashlights than one $100 flashlight. They all lose the same.

Hmm, I do not buy any flashlight that is rechargeable! grinning smiley

That is because I do not use one regularly, so the rechargeable batteries are usually dead from sitting. Same with power tools, if it not an everyday tool it better have a cord or air hose connection. Hey look, a dinosaur! No, a mirror....smileys with beer

Frank,
The Dewalt Lithium Ion tools stay charged for over a year. I've got a set of their brushless 20V stuff and after sitting at least a year they still show full charge and work great. I need to put them where I'll use them more. I end up using my corded drill because the Dewalt stuff is usually in the trunk of one of my cars or in the house and too much trouble to hunt down.

I agree Frank. If used daily the rechargeable stuff is fine, although I see folks changing battery packs often because as one fellow told me "The battery tools run down too fast, but I'm don't have access to plug in to power at my job sites".
