That is a good one to know!
Now, will it back feed and light up the tail-lights too?

It does fix the problem of blown fuses. You may have to replenish your wiring's smoke though.

Many years ago when I was much younger and poorer than now, the starter on my 65 Corsa convertible was bad and I would simply park where I could roll down hill and jump start the car by letting out the clutch.

That worked acceptably at the time until one day the clutch cable broke too.
The car was at work in the parking lot. After I got home, I got a good clutch cable and rode out to where the car was, on my street legal Honda CT-70 with the cable.

Fortunately for me, I had my trusty floor jack in the trunk and was able to replace the cable in the parking lot. (Yes I took precautions and did not rely on the jack to hold the car up while I was under it).

When I was done. I successfully got the car to start by the roll and jump start method. I then put the top down, moved the passenger seat all the way up and put the Honda in the back seat to take back home. Soon after that the starter did get fixed.

Isn't it amazing how much more stuff one can sometimes fit in the back seat of a convertible than a coupe or sedan.grinning smiley

Years ago I learned how to remove tie rod ends or ball joints without using a "Pickle Fork" or causing damage to the rubber boot.

I removed the cotter key as needed then loosened the castle nut until the very end of the nut was flush with the end of the stud. This protected the threads as well as kept the tie rod or ball joint from coming apart unexpectedly while allowing room for the joint to release.

I used two hammers, the larger of the two would be placed on the back side of the drag link or spindle assembly (depending on which I wanted to remove) then I would hammer on the opposite side with the smaller hammer (Usually nothing less than a 16oz size). Usually after two or three good solid blows, the tie rod or ball joint would pop loose. I would then properly support any parts as needed and remove the castle nut and disassemble the part as needed.

It is amazing how simple this procedure is and equally amazing how many people have never heard of this procedure. I find it works well for me. Your results may vary.winking smiley

Here's a HACK keeping in line with the spirit of the original post. It is a way
to hold nuts or washers when your fingers cannot reach. It is a piece of brake line with a loop of string inside. With the loop of string loose, place a nut or washer on the straight end of the tube, then pull the loop of string tight
around the O.D. of the nut or washer. Keeping the string tight from the other end, place the nut or washer where it needs to go... usually some place some numbnut engineer wasn't thinking about finger sizessmiling smiley, and then when this nut or washer is set into place and the nut is started, simply release the tension
on the string and remove the tube... and wahoo! you got that darned nut into a spot that your fingers couldn't reach, easy without swearing, bloody fingers, or super glue!!
Total cost is 5 dollars or less... and works way better than those stupid nut starters that don't work!
The last picture is how a rusty looking nut is held in place by the cord/string.

That two hammer method is in most every older GM shop manual. I love showing it to people. Yes, 24 to 32 ounce for one hammer, the bigger the better for the backing up hammer. If swinging one hammer while holding the backing hammer does not work, swing both and hit the joint at the same time! No more cut rubber seals.

A Corvair trunk lid will fit behind the bucket seats of a Corvair convertible. BTDT.

My small contribution, when cleaning up springs I like to paint them, to get in between the coils of a tension spring I made up this little fixture:

I had one yesterday that I believe fit all the definitions. It's like when the other Steve Goodman wrote the perfect country and western song.

Someone found a shortcut to that all too common leaky pushrod tube problem, taking everything apart is such a bother.

Did you know that you can buy a whole caulking gun size portion for just a little more than a little tube.

I decided to cut (hack) them in two to get them out, it was a joy getting them loose.
