A First for me?

At an auto show today in WI saw what is most certainly a first for me, and what I suspect to be "few and far between for most 'Vair folk -

A 1964 Corvair convertible with factory Frigidaire A/C. Can't have been too many Corvairs ordered with air, not too mention convertibles?

I thought Early A/C cars were dealer added options?

I'm looking to buy a '63 convertible with pretty much every option including air & posi.
EMs could be factory air for sure.

In my conversation with the owner I am pretty sure he said he had documentation that the A/C was factory, not dealer, installed.

Yes, I believe Frank is correct. 1961 was the start.

Air Conditioning was available from the factory or dealer-installed beginning in the '61 model year and ending in the '67 model year. All body styles except station wagon.

RPO number 114 in 61/2 and C64 '63-67.

There were also dealer kits for dealer A/C installation.

Not available on any Turbocharged Corvairs. 61s used a rather large, green, strange looking compressor.
