So it looks like I can get most the parts I need off eBay.

Anybody have a lead on the steering wheel Hub? Not really seeing them any where. Thanks in advance.

Well I started to take some parts off the column yesterday and noticed that it must be a 65 only column and that it will need the steering box that I have in order to mount it. Not sure if I’m posting these Flickr pics right but here’s what I found.

The column shown can be used with any late 65 or 1966 Corvair steering box. The coupler design and the firewall mounting defines that. In fact it cannot be used with an early 65 telescoping column steering box. (Without a lot of modification). Most of the Corvair guys will know that, and you might be better off marketing it to the Corvette folks. I don't know what has to be changed on the lower tip to make it "Corvette" but these have been changed over many times. All the parts needed to make it exactly like the wood 1965 and "next-option up" 66 wood wheel are available, including a new turn signal switch and harness. Expensive but available. The fact that your wheel needs all of that, depresses the value, at least to Corvair guys.

Oh, I thought it would have the same steering column attachment as the 66 Corvette. I saw one that was sold on eBay as a 66 Corvair column and it had the corvette style connection at the end of the shaft. Maybe it was listed wrong and it was a corvette column. I just bought a new Hub and 66 corvette harness for it. Anybody know how the conversion is done (or if they sell the bottom shaft portion) for the shaft? I’d rather sell it to a Corvair guy instead of Chopping it up into a corvette conversion.

ANY BODY DO $1000 for everything?
