Began installing the trunk and main wiring harnesses along with the long hard brake and fuel lines through the tunnel.

Also installed the rear hard brake lines.

Obviously waiting on a bunch of replacement grommets because the ones that I had previously purchased grew legs and disappeared sad smiley

When you bleed the brakes watch the 3 way connector on the back wall. I had new lines and a new connector and I had to really torque down to get it to stop leaking brake fluid.

On Monday, Richard Payne (Ratt643) drove down from Tennessee so that we could visit a dear Corvair friend on Tuesday.

Naturally, he asked if I needed any help reassembling the V8 coupe.

After discussing things, we decided to pull the trigger on the Holley Sniper EFI for the Buick 215.

Despite the usual setbacks and challenges, we accomplished the mission today.

Thanks to Richard's EFI experience and unmatched mechanical abilities, we also replaced the existing intake with a new Edelbrock Performer Dual Plane Intake.

Thanks Richard! smileys with beer

While looking for better headlights, I stumbled upon the Holley RetroBright LED headlights.

True plug and play technology that requires NO modifications to the headlight buckets or the wiring.

The high-beam RetroBrights are backordered thru mid July, so I installed the Sylvania Xtravision Halogen headlights for the high-beams.

Test fit the chromed headlight bezels from Dallas Plating here in Georgia.

Dean,
I looked back to 2018 when you rebuilt this engine, did Ken use and you retain the stock 215 heads? Will your old manifold be for sale? Scott

Scott,

Yes, this engine has the stock 215 heads.

I will send you a PM regarding the old intake manifold.

Thanks,

Cleaned up the stainless steel roof rail weatherstrip retainers using a flat tip screwdriver to remove the old rubber, followed by a wire wheel, then used Acetone to remove the sticky residue

Painted the rear windshield inside plastic trim using Krylon Fusion paint designed for plastic to change the color from red to black

Removed the ancient, crusty "felt" from the vertical window channels that are nearest the door latches.

Used a screw driver to remove the majority, followed by a wire wheel, then aircraft stripper to remove the residue.

Installed new "moleskin" using my technique from 10 years ago when I performed a similar operation on the 62 Rampside vent windows

However, for this installation:
1. Use a wooden yardstick that is shortened to 24" to make for an easier installation because you need to bend the yardstick to follow the curvature of the channels

2. Use "cable staples" because the rounded staples make it much easier to pry them out from between the yardstick and the inside edge of the channels.

3. Use a small flat tip screwdriver to pry out the cable staples. Maintain pressure on the top edge of the yardstick as you dig the screwdriver in to pry out the staple.

4. No need to use a razor blade. Simply fold the excess over the edges as needed.

5. Remember to run a toothbrush handle inside to ensure the moleskin is completely adhered to the inside channel.

The chrome headlight bezels look great. Even polished the aluminum isn't a perfect match for the chrome bumper, so it really brings it all together.

How did you like Dallas Playing? They're about 15 mins from me, and I've considered using them for some projects.

Chandler,

I have used Dallas Plating for over 11 years with fantastic results.

They have polished a bunch of stainless trim and chrome-plated at least 2 sets of headlight bezels.

As you likely know, the plating industry has been savaged by the Feds with all their environmental lunacy, so I"m thankful that we have a good plating business here in Georgia who does good work.

Began cleaning and painting the side windows today.

Wire-wheeled the rusty places, shot them with aluminum spray paint and then thoroughly cleaned the glass by using acetone and 0000 steel wool followed by Invisible Glass Stripper.
