() Date: February 28, 2021 06:24PM Brent finished the aluminum air exhaust housing this past week, so I prepped it for paint, applied the self etching primer, then applied the flat black base coat. Next will be the spatter paint coat followed by the final flat black coat next weekend. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() . . Yep! This is the second one, so far... The first was inside the space behind the passenger side fresh air vent. So, where else should I check?? Dean F. () Date: March 08, 2021 10:33PM Dean - How about a couple more pictures of your radiator cut-out and mounting. Can you raise the radiator up if you need to? Your electric pump is in the back seat area, right? 23 pages are keeping me entertained! () Date: March 08, 2021 11:14PM How big is the radiator? Width/height? I am already starting with the center (behind the license plate) cut out - Stinger Oil cooler location. Attachments: ![]() ![]() Re: 65 V8 Coupe w/Buick 215 - Racecar to Streetcar Build ![]() Posted by:

() Date: March 09, 2021 04:00AM Seth, Look towards the bottom of page 5 for the photos of the trunk cut-outs and radiator mounting. If those do not cover what you're looking for, then let me know and I'll take more this weekend. The radiator is an AFCO double pass 27.5 inches wide, 19 inches tall and 2.9 inches wide Cannot raise the radiator without hitting the trunk lid. Dean F. () Date: March 14, 2021 05:27PM After cutting the hole in the dash of the old body, I was not happy with how the Corvair center AC vent fits. So, I have been playing around with it, cutting more test holes and trying to make it work to my satisfaction. The other thing that I absolutely do NOT like is the "springy" ears that hold the vent to the metal are just plastic and do not seem to create a tight enough fit. So, I did some research and found a "custom" center vent made by Vintage Air for a 68 Camaro that fits the bill, looks much better and will have better air flow. The Camaro center vent kit comes with a metal template that made cutting the hole pretty easy. The best part is that the vent slides into the hole from the back side and the plastic bezel fits over the front creating a sandwich effect for a better fit. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dean F. () Date: March 14, 2021 06:01PM Nice job Dean and you did it in just 2 tries...most of the time it takes at least 3 times to get the results we want. Keep up the good work. Ken Re: 65 V8 Coupe w/Buick 215 - Racecar to Streetcar Build ![]() Posted by:

() Date: March 14, 2021 09:22PM Dean, can that "outer" Camaro AC center bezel be flipped 180 degrees? If so, how does it look with the protruding section at the top so it follows the slant of the dash? Can you post a pic of it that way if it is possible? () Date: March 15, 2021 05:19AM Rick (ral1963), The vent cannot be flipped because it is wider at the bottom. I looked at it both ways and chose to make it so that the wider part is at the bottom. Also, I did not want the bezel attaching screws to be visible from the top. ![]() ![]() Dean F. () Date: March 15, 2021 08:32PM Let me guess, Dean - Vintage air assigned a Part Number for the center vent? Enquiring minds want to know! Especially Rick Loving - - and me, too <grin> By the way, I ordered up a radiator for the V6 front radiator. Thanks for posting all the photos, I will keep you informed! () Date: March 16, 2021 03:12AM Seth, I purchased the center vent from Camaro Central for $89.95, not knowing that it was made by Vintage Air at that time. When I opened the package, I noticed the Vintage Air instruction sheet for part 622238, which is available from Summit for less than $72. Therefore, you and others can benefit from my "pioneering" efforts ![]() Dean F. () Date: March 21, 2021 05:38PM Assembled the JEGS body cart and placed the new body on it to get it off the lift so that I could get the old body on the lift to remove the remaining items such as the front and rear suspension, the water cooler, fuel & brake lines and the long wiring harness. Placed the new body on the rotisserie and confirmed that my brackets are more than strong enough to support the car. After removing the "good" items from the old body, I started installing the old front and rear suspension to make it a roller again. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dean F.
