() Date: February 29, 2020 02:43PM I like the SS 427 emblem, though I have neither one. It must be an aftermarket emblem, or off another Chevy car.(Impala/Caprice, maybe?) There were no SS427 Camaros, at least none through the 4th gen cars. Some dealers (Yenko/Nickey/Baldwin, etc) built them. So emblems could have been made back then. () Date: February 29, 2020 06:02PM Troy, I have not yet purchased the compressor but will likely get a Sanden unit similar to the one I installed in the V8 Rampside,,,I think it was a SD508. I plan to call D&D Fabrications on Monday to see if they have ac compressor brackets for the 63 Buick 215. D&D specializes in parts for aluminum V8s... ![]() Dean F. () Date: February 29, 2020 06:11PM Troy, Thank you VERY much for the link to Billet Badges. After looking at their work, I'm wishing that I had known about them first. However, the custom emblems from Emblemart will be arriving this coming week... I'll be posting photos once I finish painting them. Dean F. Many aftermarket companies that manufacture Serpentine Belt Kits for hot rods use the smaller sander SD507 Peanut compressor. Hoses come out the top center. (most of us have billet A/C manifolds to route the hoses 90 °) [www.tuffstuffperformance.com] SKU: 4517NBDP The mounting points are top & bottom. I don't have a bracket for a 215 but I may be able to help guide you if you make your own. () Date: March 01, 2020 04:47AM Troy, Wow! You have been an incredible source of great information and help! That "peanut" compressor is outstanding! I may very well take you on your offer of assistance to make my own... Thanks again! Dean F. () Date: March 01, 2020 08:54PM Dean, I've got an old D & D catalog, might be 30 years old. I was piddling with a '62 Jetfire back then, and Dan was still involved in running the company. 7780-SBSA is the bracket number for Buick/Olds head with Sanden compressor and serpentine drive; 7780-SRSA Rover head same. 7780-VBSA for Buick/Olds head with Sanden and V belt; 7780-VRSA Rover head same. Back then, brackets were $80 for your choice. I got my 300 crank from Mark a couple of weeks ago, and made my reservation for Helen last week. Looking forward to seeing your car soon. () Date: March 22, 2020 05:05PM Fabricated, powder-coated and installed the right side bracket for the inside AC/heat unit, then test mounted the unit. The passenger side leg room is better but I think this will be fine, all things considered. I spent the rest of today figuring out the bulkhead connectors and line routing but need to order more parts before tackling that... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dean F. () Date: March 28, 2020 06:16PM Made some good progress today... Installed the heater hose bulkhead fittings and the #6 AC bulkhead fitting. Made the #6 AC hose from the drier to the bulkhead fitting. Fabricated, powder-coated and installed the bracket for the water valve. After paying a local metal shop to weld 5/8" heater hose bungs to the upper and lower coolant pipes, I installed those pipes, then installed the water valve along with the silicone heater hose. Test fit the silicone heater hose from the inside AC/Heat unit to the bulkhead fittings. Finally, I installed the CPP Universal Return Line Fitting in the fuel tank. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dean F. () Date: April 18, 2020 06:18PM Removed the stainless windshield trim using the clip release pliers, then used 50lb fishing line to cut the butyl rubber sealant and removed the windshield today. I used the method shown in the following video: removing windshield using fishing line The fishing line method worked well and the line never broke on me. A good tip is to use a dowel or something to wrap the line around to use as a pull handle which makes it much easier to pull and eliminates stress on the hands. I noticed that all the clips had small sections of white plastic that were inserted into the top center of the clips. Can someone tell me the purpose of these plastic pieces... Cleaned the rubber off the body and from the windshield itself. Now I can paint the dash and finish making and fitting the defrost vents... I will be installing new glass and MIGHT do it myself... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dean F. () Date: April 18, 2020 09:18PM Dean, I put those small pieces of mylar between the SS trim and the painted surface to not let the trim actually touch. This reduces the chance that rusting will start due to the two different metals at that point.I started doing this years ago when I noticed most of the rust was at the clips.Reference dissimilar metals and galvanic corrosion. BTW was there any rusting at the clips? Car was painted with acrylic lacquer in 1986. Ken Re: 65 V8 Coupe w/Buick 215 - Racecar to Streetcar Build ![]() Posted by:

() Date: April 19, 2020 03:53AM Ken, I saw no rusting yesterday but will look much closer today now that I know why you inserted those Mylar strips. Dean F. () Date: April 19, 2020 03:45PM After ordering, trying and discarding several different styles of defroster vents that would work without getting in the way of other "stuff" behind the dash, I got creative. Modified a 9.5" wet/dry vacuum attachment by removing the "squeegee" insert, trimmed about 1/8 inch off the end, then made and riveted on two sheet metal "ears" that are used to attach the new "vent" to the underside of the dash. Used two #8 SS screws and knurled nuts with lock washers to attach it to the dash. Connected a hair dryer to the new "vent" and verified that it provides good air flow to the windshield. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dean F.
