Calling all Bluetooth speaker users, please post pics!

I have been toying with the idea of using rechargeable Bluetooth speakers in my convertible so I do not have to cut into any of the stock panels. I am trying to set up the best sounding setup that I can.

My plans are to create a "socket" that I place my phone in where the stock ashtray was. This way the phone can charge while I play music.

I know that they are now even creating speakers that you can have a left and right unit.

In searching Art in Missouri's mount on dash is the only one I saw.

As for the speakers I would like to see what you have, how you have it mounted and how you think it sounds/ any changes you would make.

Thanks

-Tom

I did it the expensive way. Part of my 2018 Silverado Z71 Centennial 100 Audio system. LOLsmiling bouncing smiley

Anyway, I have 2 speakers. One is a Jukebox Wizard and the other is a Shoqbox. Box do a good job in the house. I have not tried them in a vehicle , yet. Both use 5v dc 2amp to power them. Easy enough to get that from a car adapter set up for that.

Shoqbox is the more expensive an more clear unit.

I think you could use one of those pill type Bluetooth speakers with good results. I have a JBL Flip 4 that I use in the house and when camping with great results. It’s water resistant and sounds great. You could set it on the floorboard or on the seat next to you and it should have no problem cranking music above the wind and engine noise. As a bonus, it is really portable so you can bring it in the garage to listen to music when you have to work on the car.

I bought a JBL extreme for my first trip the River Cities Corvair show in Sutter Creek three years ago.
Put on the dash of the rampside. Lasted almost to the show.
Charged it up again and used it on the way back. Lasted almost all the way home.

Right at the one year mark, the battery would not fully charge or hold a charge for mor than hour.
Stilll use it the garage and outside with the power cord

If you buy two you can link them via a phone app and they will play in stereo

My wife bought a bose that she likes for the front porch. I was kind of pissed she bought it because we have 2 Sonos in the house. I bought the sonos 5 that can play via blue tooth and push it to the kitchen with sonos 1.

Oh well its only money...

How much power are you looking for? I got one of these at BJ,s for $50 something about a year ago. I use it in the garage and for outside work. More than happy with it for the price. Even has hands free if your hands are grubbed up. I charge it up then reverse the cable to power the phone, that way the phone stays charged while playing music. You can read the Amazon reviews to get an idea.

Thanks for the reply guys.

In particular those that use them in the car, I am interested in how you mounted them.

My thread on it. I have a UE Boom speaker behind the ashtray. I bought a 12v/5v USB charger and connected it to an always on terminal to keep the speaker charged. An app on my phone turns the speaker on/off. I use iHeart Radio, Sirius XM app, and the regular music app on my phone all of the time.

You're welcome. I'd add the the sound is good and sounds like it comes from the factory location. Volume is acceptable at most speeds, gets hard to hear at 75 MPH with the top down.

It's not as good as a true stereo set up, but I was wanting to keep modification of the car to a minimum.

Actually Tom, this is what I did in my Vair. I have had a tape player, cd player/ tuner under my dash since the 60s. This thing rocks, I Liked it so much I got a second one for the motor home. I can play my phone music or stream Sirius on my phone without a second account. You can get refurbed for less.

I'm a guitar player, so my wife bought me this one. Not exactly cheap, but will go at full volume for over 5 hours on a charge.
