O/T-Drove a 2018 Nissan Rogue Today...WIERD!!!

No shift one speed constant velocity transmission like my lawn tractor.

Electric assist power steering that changed from surface streets to freeway.

Almost no feel for the road in the steering wheel until your at freeway speeds.

Lane departure warning that yelled at you like your mom is in the passenger street.

Apparently the future is here...no thanks to a car that you don't have to think about to drive.

Rented a '17 earlier this year... CVT is pretty impressive... we need those in our 6 cyl. Vairs..

I don't need "road feel" at lower speeds...new vehicles go where you point them..

I was impressed... 4 cyl. ran 90 -110 stable and effortless... plus 34 mpg avg.

Also mine must've been turned down.. just saw the light near the outside mirror.

Collision avoidance worked well... but scary, according to my passenger!

I bought a 2017 Rogue S (base model) about a year ago. I like it a lot.

I have some criticisms, but they are minor:
1) The headrests are intrusive so that my head is forward and I really can't straighten my back comfortably. I don't need a wedge hitting me!
2) It seems underpowered when I am in a hurry. Plenty of normal zip for around-town driving though.
3) I wish aluminum wheels were an option (or standard) on the S model. I would recommend the next step up model, the SV for a modest price increase.

I looked hard to find what I wanted in the color I wanted. Seems like all the dealers stock are white, black, silver, and gray. Boring!

When the discounts reached around $6000 off list, I got serious and found an AWD one in Monarch Orange (orange with a bit of black mixed in for depth). It also had an appearance package from the factory which added chrome door handles, luggage bars, etc. The black cloth interior is impressive, but the black carpet is difficult to keep dog-hair-free.

I have no regrets about buying this model.

My wife will need a new AWD car soon for work. I think she would prefer the Subaru Forester... or the Ascent, but that's too pricey right now.

Rented one for Pittsburgh convention. An "SV" version. Drove it on the Economy Run. Best Corvair's got 36 mpg with hyper miling
I got over 40 mpg with no hypermiling. No issues with steering or transmission for 9 days. The car just worked for all 3 of us. Much better rental than other choices like a cheap fleet rental Jeep.
My humble opinion only. But I do own an old Jeep

Those CVT transmissions are their Achilles heal. They fail constantly! No thanks!

Give me a sedan over SUV. I don't need AWD and I live in Minnesota on a dirt road and drove 33 miles to work on 2 lane roads.
Maybe I'm just confused and the Rouge is a sedan and the Rogue is SUV. I don't want a typewriter that auto-corrects for me or a car that drives for me.
Perhaps I'm going O/T from the O/T.

The technology advances in the last 15 years has been impressive but also making the cars super complicated. Perhaps when I'm older I may purchase one and pay to keep it working but for now I'm happy with older stuff.
My two favorite new car stories.
My sister's daughter said her steering wheel would lock up and not turn, her dad said that couldn't happen so swapped cars with her and about 2 days later it almost put him in the ditch, that's when I learned that steering wheels no longer actually turn the wheels, it's a sensor and the computer uses a motor to turn the wheels.
Second story, a friend's wife had his diesel truck detailed, the detailers left the key on to listen to the radio, well the truck decided it was being stolen and went into lock down, it was towed to the Ford dealership and it took them 2 weeks to get it to run again. Got to love computers.

Was a rental my wife's son was driving.

Head gasket in the 02 Dodge Stratus went.

I found a good used Honda Civic for him.

He buys into all that kind of stuff.

You know how those millennial are.

I'll be sure to rattle his chain.

Stefani had a 2008 Nissan Rogue (bought before I met her). It was on it's 3rd transmission (CVT) when the engine shot craps at about 220,000. I guess she got her money's worth. I don't like the "normal?" CVTs. Subaru's CVT shifts gears just like you would expect (at least since 2016).

Enjoy the Corvair!

It isn't a CVT if it shifts gears...

Subarus "Lineartronic" is a CVT transmission (belt/chain driven) but the manufacturer has programmed shifts into the computer so it makes pre-set ratio changes. Feels like a "regular" automatic transmission most of the time.

Enjoy the Corvair.

The CVT Nissan that I drove reminded me of my Grandfather's Dynaflow Buick.
