It's ceramic coated inside but they didn't coat it all the way to the end.

I saw a Mercedes at a dealership last week that had 2 fancy exhaust trims on the rear. On closer inspection neither was real and the actual exhaust exited a couple of inches behind the bumper. On cold days that's gonna look rubbish with steam coming only from one side of the car and underneath the bumper.

I was at a car show in 1984 when the new Corvette came out, and I bent down on my hands and knees and noticed that one of the two tail pipes attached to each mffler was fake, just a tail pipe welded on to the end cap of the muffler. I mentioned it to the GM text that was there, and he bent down and looked, he was kind of embarrassed. But there it was.

Over at the Mazda display, there was a 929, their high-end Lexus competition, and it had an electrically operated tail pipe, one pipe for regular driving, the second tailpipe flap opened for spirited driving. Years later I Saw one in the junkyard, that made me crazy to think that I could put that mechanism on my hotrod and have electric operated header dumps.

I'm debating if I should put the grenade inside those terrible exhaust tips, or take my battery Sawzall to the Corvair shows and cut those babys off

Well, my '67 still has the original top.
I did replace the back window a few years back.
But I would say that it is still doing pretty good, considering the use my NON-garage queen, daily beater gets!

You really should police the parking lot at the convention and fix any non turbo chrome exhausts you see. A portable torch would be faster than the Sawzall.

My only issue with chrome turbo spouts is that they should be at 45d, just like Chevy installed them. Pointing down, they blow dust and sand all over, that's why Chevy pointed 'em at 45d.

You could adjust any of them that are wrong.

Chevy pointed them at a 45 degree angle, so that the sound would reverberate off of the road and bounce back up at bystanders on the side of the street!
They wanted people to really hear that Turbo Growl!

Ha!
I love it. Now that is just funny right there.
If you are going "over the top", then go WAAAAAY over!
The one redeeming factor on that car, is the fact that he does not have ridiculous camber dialed into it.

Naah..... Just add a potato to fill the opening and maybe pin a note to it indicating that the "Exhaust Police" have noticed an infraction.
When the owner investigates why the car won't run, they just might notice the potato and the note.eye rolling smiley

This falls into the category of "Yes I can think about doing it but don't dare simply because it would be so wrong to tamper with someone's vehicle" but it is still fun to think about it.

I was listening to banjo music when I bolted this back to the 64 rampy today. New muffler can wait a few days.
