Powerglide Filter Pad
Posted by: MonzaJPD61 ()

I ordered 2 pan gaskets and a filter pad for my 63 Monza Powerglide from a non-Corvair vendor. The pan gaskets are identical, but the wrong shape for my pan. I suspect the are correct for a "regular" Chevy Powerglide.

I held off removing my pan to check if the filter is correct, since I had no proper gasket to reseal pan with. So, can anyone tell me if the filter for my Corvair Powerglide is different from the "regular" Powerglide?

Most likely!

Our PG has only a SCREEN... always look in the manuals before ordering from a non Vair vendor..

I am in agreement with Matt. You probably DO NOT have the correct Corvair parts.
Usually you can just clean the screen/filter so replacement is seldom necessary.
Buy from Corvair vendors so you get the correct stuff.

Probably the same non-Vair vendor that sells the Powerglide vacuum modulators that don't fit Corvairs either. sad smiley

I did the same thing. Asked for a refund - they said since the SUPPLIER showed the part to fit it wasn't their fault. They gave me back most of my money and told me to keep the part.

So while I agree it's best to buy from a Corvair vendor (I usually do) it falls on the suppliers that list the wrong parts too.

Be advised that pan gasket won't fit the Powerglide in a 54 Vette either. Regardless of what the supplier says.

I am thinking it is the same vendor that also sells thermostats for Corvairs.
They fit if you have a SBC.
