What The Heck Is Attached To This EM Regulator???

I was sitting through my pile of Corvair Parts, looking for a couple of early model ball joints to go for an inspection 2 hours, no luck with the ball joints. But what the heck is sticking out of this early model regulator? It appears to be from a late 62 and up Turbo, with the offset firewall bracket. But what's with those two towers and the ground straps?

My EM experience is very limited since I've owned only LMs, but I have never seen anything like that before.

Those look like "feed-thru capacitors" that are used to suppress noise in DC circuits.

The current passes thru the center of the unit and the outside is grounded. This has no effect on DC but shunts AC noise to ground.

Just my best guess!

Then possibly from a vehicle that had a "HAM" radio installed?

Yes, I think this was added by someone who had some sort of radio installed.

Aftermarket AM to "CB" to Stereo would be bothered by the 'noise' given off by the relay type Regulator. Notice that on the later Radio instructions it shows an external capacitor added to both the Regulator and the + side of the Coil.
