This can often be avoided by consulting the factory shop manual if you are not totally familiar with a given procedure. Reprints of the GM Corvair Chassis Shop Manuals are available reasonably priced in print(Clark's Corvair Parts ) and available online (most are available at []) look in the resources tab. A cookbook can save alot of head scratching, and can also save damaging things that would not otherwise be damaged

I have personally performed ground up restoration on over 20 Corvairs.
I currently work full time at restoring and repairing Corvairs.
