Auction July 21st, Corvairs and Parts, Ransomville NY
Posted by: swi66 ()

Just passing along the info.
[schultzauctioneers.net]

Saturday before the convention, Ransomville NY (near Buffalo)

Auction includes:
63 Rampside 4-speed
64 Greenbrier 4-speed
65 Corsa Convertible 180 Turbo
63 Spyder Convert project car, motor out, there is a rebuilt turbo motor there, hopefully the auctioneer includes it with the car. Also some parts are off the car, bumpers, driver's seat, hopefully they will sort it out and auction it together.

64 Monza Convertible 4-speed project car with Spyder dash
I saw a rebuilt turbo and carburetor
new Turbo exhaust, also used turbo exhaust pieces.
Lots of Corvair parts
Shop equipment, welder, cherry picker, tire machine, more
95 HP motor with 4 speed transaxle
other turbo motor
Corvair motors and transmissions, I think there is a 140 or 2 there.
1946 Farmall tractor
Triumph sports car
Enclosed car trailer
mini minors, including a woody
lots more.

This is the collection of a fellow NFCC club member.
I am just passing this info along.
I will post some better pictures later.

WOW! A buyer's premium of 18%. Maybe this is normal but it sounds WAY high to me. So if the Rampside sold for $12,000, you'd end up spending $2,160 more in buyer's premiums.

18% is fairly common now, and the auctioneer also gets an 18% commission from the seller.

I would say that if I was a buyer, I would drastically adjust my highest bid accordingly. Mecum's Buyer's Premiums with a $100 registration fee:

Final Price
Buyer's Premiums
Up to $5,499
$300

$5,500 to $9,999
$500

$10,000 and up
6 percent of final price

Boats and Motorcycles
10 percent of final price

Road Art
18 percent of final price
15 percent if paid in cash, certified funds, or check

18% may be common on big high profile auctions but for estate type auctions like this there is usually no buyer's premium in my experience.
I would love to have the Rampside and Greenbrier if they are as nice as they seem but that's too far to drive on a risk like that.

Schultz auctioneers is a high profile auctioneer.
Does a lot of antiques, and recently ran an auction which sold a vintage Delahaye for high dollars. I know the 18% is high.

In my opinion, I know these vehicles, they are as nice as they seem. I will post some pictures soon when I have time. I need to reduce the resolution of my pictures to post here.

I looked at the add but there is no address for the sale or a list of parts to be sold. I am planning on going only if the respond to my email I sent them. The response I got was they will get back to me. Don't think to much of the listing they have.

I don't think much of their listing either.
Shortly before the auction a crew will be there to "stage" the auction. Parts are on the second floor of a barn, as is the woodworking equipment and tire machine. That all has to come down.

I do fear, parts will be put into piles, and not sorted. There are mini and triumph parts there as well. As for the Spyder, some parts to that are not with the car but in the attic. So whoever is interested in that will have to watch where all the parts are.

There is a reason for no address for the sale yet. The owner does not want people poking around for a preview. Location is Ransomville NY. Exact address will be coming later.

Why the "NO" sign on the Rampside ramp?
Is it code for "Keep off"?

Rampside sold for $16,000 and the Greenbrier for $7,250. Add to that the 18% buyer's premium.

In case anyone is still interested, the buyer of both FC's now has them on ebay here is the Rampside:

and the Greenbrier

Purchaser bought them both just to "flip" them.

Note, there is some rust poking through on the van on lower dog leg and door.
