If the car is solid, someone could resotre it. I've seen cars on this site that looked worse that were saved.

Sounds like a normal 140 engine with four Rochester carbs. Was there a photo of the engine somewhere I missed?

Yes, to get into the trunk without any damage, remove the small bolts holding one of the the headlight buckets and push it inside the trunk. Hopefully the trunk is not too full and then you can reach inside and unbolt the latch. Remove the left bucket if you are right-handed.

Hard to tell from the pics, but I don't see any rust-through, or major dents and dings. Need a close-up of the bottom of the windshield, and the rockers.

140 HP engines have the 4 carburetors. It's a 65-69 only engine, still fairly common. You report it's a 66, from the holes in the fender right behind the front wheels it's a Monza. GL finding someone who loves 66 convertibles.

A 69 convertible is a bit more rare than a 66. Having said that, I hope it finds a home.

4 carb engine not unique, but, in fact somewhat common and also trouble prone. If you have no desire to restore it you must be very careful not to spend much time or dollars on it to sell it. Nice looking good running convertibles like this car can often be had for $5,000ish. If you can get it running and the brakes working so it can be driven I would guess you might be able to get a couple grand for it in its current condition on a good day. Be careful how much you get into it values are not very high. Pristine 95 point show quality cars like this very rarely bring money over the mid 20's and often sell in the mid to upper teens. The parts and materials cost to take this car to that level would easily exceed $20,000 and then there is still the 500-1000 hours of labor that would be needed.

If anyone would like more info or better pictures just send me a pm... Not sure why the pictures came out sideways and distorted.

Car is solid. I have title in hand. Will try to mess with engine in the next couple of days.

Greasemonkey, what are your plans for the car? If you are strictly looking to make a little money on it, your best bet is to part it out. If the motor is a good running 140, you could get $300-500 for it.

Unless someone got the car for free AND did all the work themselves (and even in that case) they would have more money in it than it would be worth.

Rust in the floor, lower w/s panel, rear quarters, trunk floor has a glob of fiberglass, no top, interior, 30 year old gas, brakes, non running motor... you’ve got a 1000 car for someone up for the challenge.

Hope you didn't pay too much for it. Corvairs don't flip well. Especially with that much rust.

His best bet is somebody buying it out of ignorance... thinking it can be fixed up cheap. For anyone who has any idea of what they are looking at, even your $1000 number is pretty high. My guess is about $500-700 (parts value).
